H-Hour: World's Elite is a hybrid third-person and first-person shooter currently being developed by SOF Studios. It has been called a spiritual successor to the tactical shooter SOCOM.[1] Initial development was mostly funded by $252,662 from a successful Kickstarter campaign that ended on July 7, 2013.[2] The game is currently planned for a March, 2015 release for PC on the digital distribution site, Steam.[3] A version for the PlayStation 4 is planned to be released at a later date.

"H-Hour" is a military term used to denote the specific hour an operation is set to commence.[4] H-Hour is also a historical reference to the beginning of the joint airborne assault on Normandy during WWII. That operation commenced at H-Hour on D-Day.[5]

Gameplay

H-Hour: World’s Elite is a tactical, team-based, military shooter. The online gameplay will feature round-based and objective-focused matches. Players will be able to switch between third-person and first-person view. The game will initially be "8v8" only, with the possibility of testing and adding larger player-counts in the future.[6]

Upon release the game will be multi-player only. Campaign mode is scheduled as part of semi-annual DLC releases.

Online multiplayer

H-Hour: World's Elite online is a community-orientated multiplayer experience. The game is planned to feature a sophisticated online match making system capable of matching players based on skill levels but will also offer lobby matchmaking where players can manually find a game of their choice to join. The game also will feature what SOF Studios is calling the Analytics Sergeant, which is an integrated tool which will identify the flaws and strengths of how a player is playing the game. It is intended to teach players in-game strategies and how to play tactically with their team. Matches will have a 16 player maximum divided into 2 teams Special Forces and Terrorists.

Community/Clan Systems
H-Hour will make use of comprehensive building tools to focus on its community, including detailed clan creation and management systems.

Players with leadership drive can create their own permanent clans with just a few clicks using preset options. More advanced customization options will also be available. These include: a dedicated clan page, unique clan badges and logos, and even the ability to create a clan "constitution" to declare the clan's philosophy. In addition, "After Action Reports" will give clan leaders the ability to monitor their members performance at a glance, assisting leaders with tracking and improving their clan's performance. When it's time to play, clan leaders can sent challenges to other clans, or enter their team into SOF-sponsored ladders and tournaments.[7]

Security/Anti-cheating System
Advanced analytics technology will be used to monitor and combat cheaters.[8]

Armory/Weaponry
H-Hour: World's Elite will feature a comprehensive armory that will be equally available to all players upon purchase of the game. Publishers SoF Studios will offer DLC (Downloadable content)featuring weapon cosmetics for purchase such as camos/skins. However they will not offer DLC that enhances player performance in anyway, such as Scopes, extended Magazine capacity, or custom Rifles.

Maps/Game modes (online)
H-Hour: World's Elite will release with six maps, and at least four gameplay modes. Each map will be created to fit a specific game type in order to provide the best tactical competition possible. Additional maps will be released via semi-annual DLC. The maps in these DLC packs will be free of charge and available to all players.

Development

The first, core release of H-Hour will be multiplayer only, first launching on the PC, and then being ported to the PlayStation 4. Initially, a demo will be produced and demonstrated to potential investors and publishers. After that, an alpha version and beta version will be slowly rolled out among high-level kickstarter backers and select forum members. As being confirmed by SOF Studios, a closed beta will release for those who donate $45, and an open beta will release months after that. [9]
