Hi, Hamed Haddadi is no longer in Memphis Grizzlies. He is in Phoenix Suns at the moment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MahmoudHejazi (talkcontribs) 14:30, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I know it, but Memphis was his club at the time of that tournament. we will update that list when they announce new roster for 2013 Asian Champs. 14:38, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

My edits on Mahram Basketball

Hey Mohsen, My edits on Mahram basketball up to date. I added The height of one of the players and i took out a player who no longer plays for Mahram and added a player who is going to play for them. These edits are right and would you please kindly stop replacing them. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anklebreaker3 (talkcontribs) 15:48, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mahram's roster for the next season isn't announced yet, so this is their latest roster for 2012/2013 season. To me this is clear vandalism, but OK if you think you are right, provide a source for your edit, otherwise I will report you if you edit once again. Mohsen1248 (talk) 15:52, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

http://basketball.asia-basket.com/team/Mahram_Tehran/6526?Page=1 please take a look at that website which shows the Mahram roster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anklebreaker3 (talkcontribs) 16:03, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And that name "Namdar" doesn't exist here. This is VANDALISM. not only Milic, almost all of these players will leave Mahram for the next season but this is Mahram's 2012/2013 season roster, their latest team. anyhow I removed Milic from their roster so you have no more pretense. Thank you...

Thank you for putting more information about the cue sports section of the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. I have been trying to find the list of athletes for the events for a while and can't seem to find it. Besides, you are welcome to expose the other sports sections. lol, u r welcome but it's no big deal, I made almost all the pages for previous Asian Games / Indoor Games and will do the same for this tournament. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:25, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Futsal at 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

It doesn't make sense for Korea to be ranked first on total points, as they played 3 games and all other 2nd-placed teams played only 2. Of course, all rules don't make sense, so it's possible this is the correct system after all. Usually, if groups are of uneven numbers, matches against the bottom team in the group with most teams are not counted. This system was obviously not used (or Vietnam would have qualified). The only other fair system (as teams played an unequal number of games) would be to rank teams by points per game. 92.15.196.9 (talk) 23:42, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is wikipedia, you can't add something to the page just because you think it makes sense, to me it was clear cheating by Korea, they wanted an easy path to the semifinal, so they invented this format, they always invent new rules when they host international tournaments. and also you can read this article, right after the the end of Group A matches they wrote this article in AFC website, they didn't even wait for the rest of groups result just because having 6pts was enough for Korea. Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:47, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. It was not just because I thought it made sense - I actually thought that was what system they used (there wasn't an explanation on the website). I just didn't think that Korea would be able to do this in an official competition. It does seem like cheating... First, I thought it was results against 1st and 3rd placed teams in the group that counted (a normal situation - then I thought Vietnam cheated to get a 0-0 draw with Lebanon, as this is not a common result in futsal). Anyway, thanks for the link - it seems to prove that the Koreans used this unfair system. 92.15.196.9 (talk) 00:03, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In a mini tournament like this, they will do everything to please the host nation. I also think Vietnam-Lebanon result is suspicious but they probably didn't know it so they (Vietnamese) thought they can advance with a draw. but as you see we had no draw in 2nd day since probably everybody found out this rule. Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:45, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2014 FIVB Volleyball World Championship Qualification

Thanks for all your updates to this - I've also been trying to help (most of the other edits have been mine), but it's incredible that neither the CAVB or FIVB have been putting the results on their website. The Namibia Volleyball Association has just put a completely different set of results on their official Facebook page as well - https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/p480x480/999575_540394126007984_369634125_n.jpg I think some of these results may be wrong... Hopefully, we can find the missing results soon! Mcruic (talk) 09:52, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and thanks for you updates too, yes I think the same, it's unbelievable in 2013, I still hope they give us a complete result after the end of zub-zonal round. they also didn't clearly explained their system, (even though it's almost clear now).
I think this picture in Nambia's facebook page looks like an official document. I think it's better to update the results based on this one. 09:59, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
Today, I received an e-mail from the CAVB press officer. He said he will send me all the results soon. When (or if) I get them, I will update the page. Mcruic (talk) 09:41, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I was hopeless to find those results at all. Mohsen1248 (talk) 11:28, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
All results received today from CAVB - I will amend the pages as necessary. At last! For Zone L, only the first 2 men's matches are given by CAVB, and only 1 match from the women's tournament (with a different score for Set 3 - 25-20, but all Seychelles news says 25-14). I've left as per the Seychelles news, because CAVB records for Group L are incomplete. Mcruic (talk) 18:27, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, This is great lol. finally. is it an official document (like a PDF) you received ? or someone just wrote the results. I mean for example I see you changed the Pool B results. are u sure these are correct (SEN-SLE match, 3rd set)? Mohsen1248 (talk) 19:36, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was told they were the official CAVB results. I was sent an official-looking Word document. Some of the results were quite different... I told him that some of the Seychelles v Mauritius results were missing (also the final table was missing for Seychelles v Mauritius women). His reply - "These are the official results from CAVB". I replied "Yes, I know, but there are some results missing". He did not reply... Sometimes, I don't know how these people can have jobs 92.15.192.64 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 10:49, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, they also updated their website, even though it's not complete. Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:26, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Expect some of these results to change (again). I've finally got through to the FIVB and they've promised to address the issue (lack of results for Africa). Also, Botswana, Lesotho and Zambia federations all gave different result for the Lesotho-Zambia match, and Botswana and Zambia both gave different results for Botswana-Zambia. Botswana even gave a different set score for the first set of their own match v Zimbabwe (originally, they had it as 21-25, now they have changed it to 20-25), so I don't know which is the correct version any more! Mcruic (talk) 08:32, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You did a great job collecting these results. it's funny even when they posted the results for the previous round their link is incomplete and they never fixed it ! I wonder is it that hard to write a single line about the result ? Mohsen1248 (talk) 11:08, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just received a reply from the CAVB - they seem 'upset' at the way I am speaking to them. I just said it was not acceptable that they still do not have results from the 1st round (in July) on their site. Also, they put the result of Mauritius v Seychelles on their site - and according to the report, Seychelles won 4-1!!! The CAVB assures me the result is correct and official... So, I have written to them again, telling them they are definitely wrong about the Mauritius result. Also, they told me it was hard to contact the federations, so they only have results from Day 1 in Zone 6 (that's 3 results out of 15, in an organisation with paid staff dealing only with volleyball). Meanwhile, people like you and me, who are not paid, have managed to find all 15 results - and all we have is 1 computer each! People are always full of excuses why they cannot do things... Mcruic (talk) 16:53, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes you are exactly right, even in Botswana it won't be hard to send a line about a match results. we don't ask for a match report or something like that, just a result. FIVB is usually better with FIVB sanctioned tournaments but this time they gave everything to continental confederations to organize the qualification tournaments. unlike us they lack courage to do their job. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:36, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
CAVB finally released the results from the Botswana tournament: BUT, it looks like they just copied the results from Wikipedia...

http://cavb.org/pages.php?option=brows&id=708&catid=20 Mcruic (talk) 10:00, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

lol, obviously they took it from Wikipedia ! they didn't even bother to change anything ! just copy and paste ! Mohsen1248 (talk) 00:06, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It gets better! Now FIVB have copied the same information. If you click on the team names, they even forgot to remove the Wikipedia links! http://www.fivb.org/EN/Volleyball/Competitions/WorldChampionships/2014/Men/viewPressRelease.asp?No=43580&Language=en Mcruic (talk) 19:13, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've sent both FIVB and CAVB a copyright violation letter, as they are copying our work without attribution (there are at least 4 pages with information copied directly from the Wikipedia pages we have been editing). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Standard_CC-BY-SA_violation_letter) Hopefully, this will stop them copying this work in future. Also, it might encourage them to actually post their own official results! Mcruic (talk) 18:28, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
lol it was a very smart move from you, I hope at least it encourages them to do their job better next time. Mohsen1248 (talk) 20:58, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your page moves are often problematic

Your page moves are often problematic. What was the reason for moving Atousa Pourkashiyan to Atousa Pourkashian? As far as I can see, none of the article sources use that spelling. You also poisoned the redirect page by tagging it {{R from incomplete name}} which is simply incorrect, as the redirect is not an incomplete name. Quale (talk) 06:56, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was the correct way to transliterate those names for original Persian. for example there is a mistake in Elshan Moradi's passport they didn't put space between two parts of his surname and all English sources use that. here is an example. and the suffix "یان" always transliterates to "-ian" and not "-iyan". Mohsen1248 (talk) 11:07, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure that WP:UE says that the English Wikipedia uses what "all English sources use", even if you think the transliteration should be different. (One reason that the English Wikipedia uses the same spellings as its English-language sources is that those are the spellings that readers of an English language encyclopedia will expect.) You've moved these pages numerous times contrary to our sources. Please use the WP:RM process to gain consensus before you try to move them again. It's disruptive to continue these moves contrary to the English Wikipedia's guidelines. Quale (talk) 21:24, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Myanmar

Hi, Can I ask you to revert your post here ? this template is for Myanmar, we have another one for Burma. the official name is still Myanmar and people still use Myanmar for sport articles like Myanmar national football team. your change made some problems for sport articles, I think it won't hurt if you revert it, at the end if will redirect to Burma article, thanks in advance. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:00, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see there is some uncertainty over which is the appropriate usage for Burmese sport related articles. Category:Burma national football team and Category:Football in Burma indicates a mixed usage of Burma and Myanmar. And looking at Culture_of_Burma#Sports, there appears to be some inclination toward Burma. It is difficult when either a person or a country change name as there is a period of transition. We have the guidelines WP:Common name, and WP:Official name, which are explained at WP:Remember the reader. The importance for the English language Wikipedia is to ensure that the bulk of the readership are not confused, and that they know they are being directed to and have landed at the correct article. Someone looking for an article on Burma related matters, may not click on a link which has the name Myanmar, because that name is not yet in common usage. Thankfully, it is not Wikipedia editors who decide this matter, it is reliable sources that guide us. Here's some of what I found when putting Burma Myanmar and Football into Google: Burma, Burma, Myanmar, Myanmar, both, Burma, Myanmar, both, Burma, both. It looks a bit messy, but Burma comes up more often than Myanmar; enough for me to question how helpful it would be to change Burma to Myanmar in a navigation template. As some sources use Myanmar (Burma), I wonder if that may be a workable solution? SilkTork ✔Tea time 08:37, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the answer, but I'm not asking you to change the name of the article Burma. no, but I want consistency between similar templates, I mean, this template  Myanmar and  Myanmar and  Myanmar are almost the same but now the outcome is now different after your change. Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:48, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Three templates all doing the same thing. Is that standard for flags? I understood similar templates usually end up being merged. SilkTork ✔Tea time 23:24, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure, I think they are slightly different, for example you have can something like this  MYA with flag template, or you can use flag variants for {{flag|Myanmar}} and {{flagcountry|MYA}} unlike {{MYA}} I mean something like this  Myanmar. Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:47, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're right - it does appear to be standard. Having the different templates is to allow flexibility so people can decide which flag to use, or which name to use, if there are variations. I would have thought it was possible to have just the one template with parameters to allow for different names and flags, and for shortcuts to be redirected to the one template. But there you - I suppose nobody has got around to tidying it up. I am reluctant to revert my edit as the main article is Burma not Myanmar, and it is not clear to me either that there is at the moment consensus to use Myanmar, nor that reliable sources are clear on the point. I think something like this needs broader consensus so that there isn't patchy usage across Wikipedia. Rather than fight for single edits, why not start a RfC on the Burma talkpage to seek broad consensus on getting name consistency across Wikipedia. It doesn't make sense to have a country called one name in one set of articles, and another in a different set. With broad consensus you can get mentions in articles, article names, templates and categories all changed. SilkTork ✔Tea time 14:06, 26 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Arab Games

Hi Mohsen. I hope you are doing well. I noticed you have basic Arabic listed on your user page. I'm trying to gather the results for the Athletics at the 1999 Pan Arab Games. I've got the champions and a few other medallists, but I'm still missing quite a lot of them. I have a feeling some of these results might be listed in this PDF of the Arab Athletics Magazine. I know that Abughassan at French Wikipedia took the Arab Championships results from here – do you have the time and skill to have a look if the Games results are there too? SFB 17:33, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I can read Arabic. it's a little similar to Persian. from what I see this PDF file includes complete results (including heats) of that tournament. It looks complete. (I wish I could find something like that for Asian Games LOL) you want me to update the page with these results or anything else ? the only problem is transliteration, and also Arabic names are usually too long, sometimes they do NOT call themselves by the name you read in their official names. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:49, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds great! My main focus is the missing medallists. I'm very aware of the transliteration issues as I am working through the Arab Athletics Championships series (Nasreya Azayed = Nasria Azaïdj!). I am using the IAAF athlete database to find the common name for the athlete – even if the IAAF name is not exact, it allows us to start to link things together. If you are able to translate the missing medallist results and names as given on the PDF, then I'm happy to do the detective work of finding the common name in English/Latin script.
What Asian Games results are you looking for? The 1998 ones are linked on the page already. The Arab Athletics site has a fully available archive of its magazines here, so you might find Asian Games information post-1980 in there. I will keep my eye out for anything you're looking for. SFB 18:09, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I added more names but unfortunately one page (page 35) is missing ! so I could not complete 3 events but still I completed the medal table based on medal table in this PDF file, the order of pages is something like this 36, 45, 38, 47, 40, 49 !!! I will check it once again to find if they write about those missing events in their articles. I tried to find names on IAAF database for all of them but I didn't find some of them. I tried to do the best possible transliteration for them but I might be wrong.
I mean all of them from 1951 to 1998, I saw that Sadec link for 1998 results before but can't trust it since there are a lot of mistakes for other sports results so I don't think I can trust their athletics results too. this link looks really good I have to check their PDF files, maybe I can find something there, I wish other organizations had an archive like this. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:57, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for having a look for me. I've had a quick look around for Asian Games sources and it appears that none of these are online (at least in English). The following book if you can find it will cover the early years:
  • BUCHANAN, Ian. A Handbook of Far Eastern and Asian Games Track and Field Athletics. Hong Kong, Ian Buchanan, 1973. 119pp. Lists. Paperback (The results of all the finals of the track and field events at the Far Eastern Games, 1913-1934 and the Asian Games, 1951-1970.)
A statistician/blogger Jad Adrian Washif appears to have access to the above book. Perhaps if you email him he may be able to help you with your search? There will also be "Official Report"s available somewhere, but nothing that I can find online. I completely agree that it is a shame that more publications aren't offered more freely. If you are really determined then you could try emailing the National Olympic Committees that hosted each Asian Games and ask if they have any copies of the reports. The ATFS might be able to assist you too. SFB 20:55, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome, and thanks for your search, I contacted some of Olympic committees, some of them didn't even answer and the rest told me they don't have it in PDF, they had the book but no intention to scan it. Ironically A library one hour away from me has most of them (if not all) but they do NOT let me use them since I'm not a national champion or something like that !!!! I will contact this http://www.adriansprints.com writer, I used his website before but I didn't know he is such a nice person to write something like this "Therefore you may still can have the results if you want. Please let me know". Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:02, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That is a real shame. It might be worth calling again at the library at a later date. My experience is that rules at libraries tend to change depending upon who is in charge at the time! SFB 10:16, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(undent) Hi Mohsen – not sure if you're still looking but I found that the China People website holds the results of the finals from the 1998 Asian Games. Probably a decent source to start with in combination with Todor66 for cross-checking. SFB 13:10, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks. of course I'm still looking, I knew about that Chinese link, they probably took results from here, interesting complete results in todor website. I have to check if he took them from the same source (which is wrong sometimes) or he had a better and more complete source. Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:13, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hadie Zeinvand

Hello. You wrote in this article, that Parviz Zeidvand was placed second in the 69 kg event. However, according to this and this site, the second place was taken by Hadie Zeinvand. Do you know which version is correct? Maybe it is the same person? Best regards, Khan Tengri (talk) 14:57, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Parviz Zeidvand is a different person that Hadi Zeinivand (his current name). There are some mistakes FILA database (both sources you mentioned are the same) and this is one of them, Parviz Zeidvand won that medal and later that year went to compete to 2000 Olympics. Hadi Zeinivand was much lighter, even if you check the link, he competed in another tournament at 50kg in 1999. it's almost impossible for a wrestler to jump from 50kg to 69kg in a year. Hello. You wrote in this article, that it was Hamid Rahimi who was placed second in the 68 kg event. However, according to this site his name was Hassan, not Hamid. Do you know which version is correct? Best regards, Khan Tengri (talk) 18:44, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, It's probably just a mistake because we have a freestyle wrestler Hassan Rahimi, Iran Wrestling federation website published that list here and other websites copy/pasted it. I did research at that time I was writing the article and the Greco wrestler with this name doesn't exist. even FILA database listed him as Yamid Rahimi, and I found this in some Iranian websites. that guy is Hamid for sure. 2014 Asian Men's Handball Championship

Hi Mohsen, sorry I can't understand, if Kuwait beat Iraq, si it will 6 pts and + ... GD, so it will be in the 2nd place right ?. regards. --Fayçal.09 (talk) 15:35, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, no because the first tie break is the head to head and they lost to UAE. even if Japan beat Qatar, all 3 teams (Japan, Kuwait and UAE) will be tied at 6pts and still Japan will qualify because they have better GD in 3 way tiebreak. Mohsen1248 (talk) 15:37, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Football at the 1954 Asian Games

Hi. I just noticed that earlier in the year, you've edited the page numerous times and added accurate names, even adding the full squads for the medal winning teams. You've also added times of the goals which the RSSSF source doesn't even list. I'm curious to know what your source(s) is/are. Thanks. Banana Fingers (talk) 13:01, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I had sources for all of them, but since it was long time ago I can't remember which one for which edit exactly. but it was mostly from old newspapers. this and this, for the rosters, I emailed somebody in OCA few years ago and he answered me with an excel file which has list of medalists names from almost all Asian Games events. the list is not complete though but still very useful. but I had checked it with other sources, Korean Football federation website has complete rosters/results for All Asian Games matches of South Korea. even for Taiwan I found their squads here
Ya, I would've expected the bulk of your sources to be old newspapers. Having said that though, RSSSF's sources are also mainly newspapers, the ones used are listed in the file. So now it would be interesting to know what other newspapers you used. Banana Fingers (talk) 13:14, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you can google it, it gives you some Indonesian sources. even though there are many ways to transliterate Indonesian names, but I'm sure "Hasjin" is wrong, the last letter is m, it's Hasjim (or Hashim). Mohsen1248 (talk)

Why did you move Thepchaiya Un-Nooh to Thepchaiya Un-nooh. All following sources ([3] [4] [5] [6]) have him as "Un-Nooh". --BlueFire10 Let's talkabout my edits? 22:32, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Because this is the way for Thai names with 2 syllables, the second syllable is not capitalized. English sources probably don't care about small details like this but in his own country, they write it like this. [7]. I noticed that you moved Jae Weong Seo to Seo-Jae Weong 2 months ago, but didn't move pages such as Hyun-jin Ryu and Byung-hyun Kim to pages using the Korean naming order despite your reasoning for the Seo move. I moved it back to Western order, but there are large amounts of ambiguity amongst the naming conventions used for Korean MLB players. --WNYY98 (talk) 22:06, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Since you're an Iranian national, I hope you can help with this. I noticed the IRIWF seem to count only international results as national records. For example there was a national meet/trial before the 2011 world championships where Behdad Salimi snatched 217kg. Apparently the federation does not recognize this result as a national record. Do you know their reasoning? --80.139.100.21 (talk) 22:44, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yes that's true. they just follow IWF policy in this. IWF only considers records in IWF calendar events. Iran Weightlifting federation does the same, only records in international federation calendar events count. they probably think it doesn't make sense to have a national record better than the world record !! Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:56, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thank you for the answer. Another related question that doesn't really warrant its own heading: the weightlifting record pages here on WP aren't uniformly titled. For example the World and Asian lists include "List of" in the title while the African or Iranian pages do not. Do you think it's a good idea to move them to a consistent naming? --80.139.111.32 (talk) 11:19, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

well I don't know, if you think this is a good idea, you can ask for move in talk page. you can find other's opinion about it. personally it doesn't matter for me. Mohsen1248 (talk) 02:56, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
