Gray Television, Inc. is a communications company headquartered in Atlanta, GA. As of March 2004, the company owned 29 television stations serving 25 television markets. Fifteen of the stations are affiliated with CBS Inc. (CBS), seven are affiliated with National Broadcasting Company, Inc. (NBC) and seven are affiliated with the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). The combined station group had 22 stations ranked number 1 in local news audience and 22 stations ranked number 1 in overall audience within their respective markets based on the results of the average of the Nielsen February, May, July and November 2003 ratings reports. The combined TV station group reached approximately 5.3% of total U.S. TV households. In addition, with 15 CBS affiliated stations, the company was the largest independent owner of CBS affiliates in the country. As of March 2004, the company also owned and operated four daily newspapers, three located in Georgia and one in Goshen, IN, with a total daily circulation of over 126,000; and operated a wireless messaging and paging business in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. In 2003, the company's television broadcasting segment accounted for 82% of its total revenues (74% in 2002), the newspaper publishing segment 15% (22%), and the paging segment 3% (4%).
