The Dorapion (ドラピオン) is one of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Dorapion is famous for being one of the Pokémon revealed before the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, alongside Cherimu and Pachirisu. The purpose of Dorapion in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
Dorapion appears to be a more advanced scorpion, with two large claws, four short legs and a stinger on the end of its tail. However, according to the press release, Dorapion's classification is noted as "Monster Scorpion Pokémon". Dorapion has a purple exoskeleton and an elongated body.[3]
In the video games
Although not much is known about Dorapion, some information has been released about its attacks and abilities. It can either have an existing ability, Battle Armor, or a new ability, Sniper, which increases the base power of attacks during Critical hits. Dorapion can also learn the existing attack, Poison Fang, and a new attack, Cross Poison, which has an increased chance of Poisoning the opponent, or performing a Critical hit.[4]
