Suzanne Côté will be a puisne justice of the Supreme Court of Canada beginning on December 1, 2014.[1] She was nominated by prime minister Stephen Harper to replace retiring justice Louis LeBel. She is currently a lawyer in private practice, and will be the first woman appointed directly from private practice.[2] Côté did her legal studies at Laval University, and has taught courses at University of Montréal and the Université du Québec à Rimouski. Prior to being appointed to the Supreme Court, she was a partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Montréal.
