CityGlider is a high-frequency bus route operated by Brisbane Transport, the Brisbane City Council agency that operates the city's public bus services for TransLink in Brisbane, Australia.
The Blue CityGlider runs every five minutes during peak and every 10 to 15 minutes during off-peak. This is the first service in Brisbane to operate 24 hours on Friday and Saturday and 18 hours every other day.[1]
Bus stops serviced by the CityGlider services are identified with signs and painted kerb.
History
The service was launched at 10:00 11 April 2010.[1][2]
Blue CityGlider Route (number 60)
The Blue CityGlider runs every five minutes during peak and every 10 to 15 minutes during off-peak. This is the first service in Brisbane to operate 24 hours on Friday and Saturday and 18 hours every other day.[1]
In April 2014 a petition started by Wil Cooper was signed by 1070 people and called upon the service operators, Brisbane Transport and Translink to reroute the inbound (westbound) service from Teneriffe Ferry via Skyring Terrace past the Gasworks Shopping and Restaurant Precinct rather than via Commercial Road.
In August 2014, the Brisbane City Council supported the rerouting of the inbound service and relocating the Commercial Road bus stop to Skyring Terrace. These changes commence from Monday 15 December 2014.[3][4]
Maroon CityGlider Route (number 61)
This second 'CityGlider' East to West route commenced on 18 February 2013 and operates from Ashgrove to Stones Corner (Coorparoo West Langlands Park Busway Station) and connects major sporting, entertainment, shopping and dining precincts. The Maroon CityGlider services operate:
•every 10 minutes during peak times and 15 minutes off peak •18 hours a day from Thursday to Sunday and 24 hours a day on Friday and Saturday •throughout Friday and Saturday nights at 30 minute intervals after midnight
The Maroon CityGliders are garaged at Brisbane Transport's Carina bus depot.
