Early years

Cooper attended Miami Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida, where he played football, basketball and ran track. As a junior, he was one of Teddy Bridgewater's primary targets and had 16 catches for 175 yards and four scores. As a senior, he had 33 receptions for 722 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was considered the sixth best wide receiver recruit by Rivals.com.[1]

College career

As a freshman in 2012, Cooper finished the regular season with 53 receptions for 895 yards and nine touchdowns.[2] In the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, Cooper returned to Miami, where he played high school football, and led all Alabama receivers with 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. On September 20, 2014 Cooper set new career highs in both receptions and a yards in a victory against the University of Florida. Cooper had ten receptions for 201 yards, the first wide receiver to do so since Julio Jones in 2010.[3] He also set a new mark for career touchdown receptions at Alabama with his 19th and 20th touchdowns, surpassing the previous record of 18 held by Dennis Homan.[4] Cooper broke his reception record against Tennessee on October 25, with 224 yards.[5]


Awards

Alabama WR Amari Cooper finished the CFB regular season strong in the last two regular season games in 2014. vs the #15 ranked Auburn Tigers, Amari Cooper had a staggering 13 receptions, for 224 yards, and 3 TD's in leading Alabama to a victory over the Auburn Tigers. Then in the week after that vs the Missouri Tigers, Amari Cooper had a decent performance as he has 12 receptions, for 83 yards, but no TD's in #1 Alabama's 42-13 route vs #16 Missouri.

Then two days after the 2014 SEC Championship, Cooper was announced a Heisman finalist along with Marcus Mariota, & Melvin Gordon.

On December 11th, 2014 Cooper won the 2014 Biletnikoff award for the nation's top WR. Cooper ended up falling short at 3rd place in the Heisman race as Oregon QB Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy.
