Moscow Cat Museum is a museum in Moscow, dedicated entirely to the theme of cat in art and life. Established in March, 1993.[1]

History

Between May and June of 1992, exhibitions were held around Moscow, with painters, sculptors, and other artists, with a focus on the feline form. The exhibition program was titled 'Cat's Eye'. The program was so successful that it led to the creation of the Moscow Cat Museum in Moscow, Central Federal District in March of 1993. As well as art ranging from batiks to photographs, the museum also includes books, toys, and suits, all centered on the theme of cats.[2]

Collection

The Moscow Cat Museum includes over 1500 cat themed works of art.[3] The collection embraces paintings, graphics, ceramics, batiks, tapestries, costumes, applications, dolls, installations, etc.[4]

Exhibitions

The list of main expositions includes Cat's Eye, Women and Cats, Cat's Magic, Children's Pictures of Cats, Cat Around the Map projects.[1]
