Notable workLyricist of national anthem of Nepal.

Byakul Maila (Pradeep Kumar Rai) is the lyricist of current Nepalese national anthem titled Sayaun Thunga Phool Ka. His writing was selected to be the national anthem of the newly declared Republic of Nepal in November 30, 2006 out of 1272 submissions. The new national anthem is representative of the new era in the history of Nepal, after the abolition of monarchy in 2006. Amber Gurung composed music for the song.[1][2][3] He was in controversy because of him demanding life long pension from the government for his contribution in compiling the national anthem. Critics say that the one who preaches to be self dependent and never ask anyting from other is expecting a pension worth more than that of a first class officer is double standard in his part.
