Arthur Adel

Arthur Adel (1908 - 1994) was an American astronomer and astrophysicist.

Life

He was born to immigrant parents on November 22, 1908 in Brooklyn, New York.[1] His parents were Orthodox Jews who had immigrated from Russia.[2] He died of cancer on September 13, 1994 in Flagstaff, Arizona at the age of 85.[3]

Education

He attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where he received his bachelor's degree. He also completed his PhD at the same institution in 1933.[4]

Career

Most of his astronomical work was done at the Lowell Observatory.[5] Later, he was appointed as a professor at the Northern Arizona University (NAU).[6]
