The Markham Pan Am Centre is a badminton, table tennis and water polo facility currently under construction in Downtown Markham for the 2015 Pan American Games to be held in nearby Toronto. The facility is scheduled to be completed in 2014, one year before the games start.[1]

The venue became the first venue to be constructed for the 2015 Pan American Games to have its design unveiled. The building will be a 142,000-square-foot facility.[1]

The facility will cost roughly $78 million Canadian dollars to be built.[2]

The official ground breaking for the facility was on October 9, 2012.[3]

2015 Pan American Games

For the 2015 Pan American Games an Olympic sized pool (for water polo) and a triple gymnasium with a warm-up hall (for badminton and table tennis) will be constructed.[4] Both venues will have 2,000 seats each (1,000 permanent and 1,000 temporary seats). The triple gymnasium meets international requirements for height in badminton and volleyball.[4]

Post Games

After the Games, the facility will become a Markham community and competition centre for aquatics, badminton, volleyball, basketball and table tennis. Other features include rooms for dance, yoga, and a two-level fitness centre.[1]
