King James I Academy (formally known as King James I Community Arts College) is a medium size academy school and sixth form centre for mixed gender aged 11 – 18. Opened in 1605 and formerly known as King James 1st Grammar School, the college is located in the North East of England in the town of Bishop Auckland. There are currently over 800 students in the college and roughly 90 staff, including many members of support and representatives from Connexions and the NHS.

In 2012 the college announced they would be starting a partnership with the Martin Gray Football Academy for two years to help students who are good footballers to try and make a career out of their hobby.
