About Elaine King photos

Hi! I have a question, why have you changed the distribution of the images in this page? Because the photo "Elaine King in the Miami Book Fair International in 2013" is now under the infobox and it is not look very well there...--Ane wiki (talk) 03:45, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ane wiki. I only changed it because I thought it looked better this way. Of course you can change it back if you disagree. The images just seemed to be a bit too large, and the book fair one was creating a lot of empty white space in the article with the way it was situated. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 10:35, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I appreciate it. Anyway, I´m going to move that image again. Thanks!--Ane wiki (talk) 22:28, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request for input on DYK article

Hi. You previously reviewed a DYK on Megachile campanulae that I was involved in. I've made a mess of a proposed DYK at Template:Did you know nominations/Calitoxin. I was hoping you might be willing to take a look and help me out with understanding the concerns re: WP:OR. Thank you! Gaff ταλκ 23:49, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merging Xianshou?

Hi there. Do you have any objection to me merging the two species of Xianshou into the genus article? That way readers get everything in one article without having to navigate 3 articles to get the same info. This is standard in paleo articles, where there is often little to write about individual species: see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Palaeontology#Single-species_articles WikiProject Paleontology. Cheers, and thanks for your contributions. --Animalparty-- (talk) 15:52, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Emoia atrocostata

Hi, I addes a few references to the Emoia atrocostata article. Is this sufficient to remove the unreferences-tag? DaMatriX (talk) 16:46, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@DaMatriX: Yes. Someone might tag it with {{no footnotes}}, but it has enough references that the {{unreferenced}} tag is no longer appropriate. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 20:05, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, i've added a footnote, so I guess it's fine now ;) DaMatriX (talk) 19:19, 18 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Di Botcher Reference

I've had a warning on the article I created earlier today (Sunday 19th October). The article was called: Di Botcher and the warning said that I needed to cite at least one reference. It also said that if there is no reference attached to the article by Sunday 26th October, then the article would be deleted. I have attached a reference to the article and would like to request cancellation of the deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thenotfunnyman (talkcontribs) 16:52, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Thenotfunnyman: adding the reference automatically cancelled the deletion process. You can edit the article yourself to remove the text which is producing the proposed deletion tag. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 16:57, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, great. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thenotfunnyman (talkcontribs) 17:05, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Thenotfunnyman: I removed the BLPPROD template, but added {{BLP sources}} and {{unreliable sources}} tags to the article, since IMDB is not considered a reliable source. It would be great if you could find some other sources, or else the article might end up at articles for deletion. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 17:12, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

my name is Rustem and i am working in German Heart Center in Berlin.

I have created GHCB wiki pages for international Patients: 1.) German Heart Center in Berlin and 2.) Berlin Heart Center with redirect in first page.

Our center need this pages to inform international patients about treatment in our center, so its not a advertising. Under is links of our center: dhzb.de (German) and dhzb.com (for international patients). This text is not a advertising or promotion.

I havent saved this text in PC and i use wikipedia first time.

I need to create this two pages. Can you help me to do this? How can i do this? I worked for this two pages today 3 hours.

Sincerely, Rustam Hasanov — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hasanovrf (talkcontribs) 17:33, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Hasanovrf: I'm sorry that the article you spent three hours working on got deleted. However, it was promotional: Wikipedia is not a place to inform people about your services. Also, the article was written in the first person plural ("we") and not in the third person form that Wikipedia uses to maintain a neutral and encyclopedic tone. Since you clearly have a conflict of interest, the best way to create the article about your center would be to use the articles for creation process, where people without a connection to the subject will assess the article's notability and neutrality. Good luck! G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 17:49, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help me to corrigieren this article because i dont speak english.

@Hasanovrf: I can't understand your first question: I think part of it was lost in translation. However, for your second question, yes: to create an interwiki link click the "Add links" option below "Languages" in the sidebar. Then enter, in this case, "de" in the "Language" box, and "Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin" in the "Page" box, and click "Link with page". I hope that helps! DYK for Boston Society for Medical Improvement

HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:02, 25 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Onward!

From your work on BSMI, you seem like the perfect person to take the lead on a 5X expansion of Massachusetts_Medical_Society (currently about 1050, so the target would be 5250 -- BSMI is about 7000 by comparison). The reason I'm mentioning it is that, believe it or not, just about 20 yrs after Bigelow's presentation of the living Phineas Gage to BSMI, in 1868 John Martin Harlow presented Gage's skull to the Mass Medical Society. You probably know that from the Gage article, but what you probably don't know is that Bigelow (who was quite competitive) somewhat upstaged Harlow's presentation of the skull by trotting out -- at the same meeting -- a new accident victim, a miner who'd had an iron pipe blown through his head. (Bigelow had brought the man all the way from Ohio, together with the gas pipe and even the hat Lenn had been wearing, complete with exit and entry holes.) I'm sure we can make a great hook out of this.

However, Gage has gotten plenty of exposure this year on WP (he was in On This Day about 5 weeks ago) plus some very visible exposure off WP as well, so we should probably wait -- it would be just weird to have Phineas Gage on the main page all the time, like happened with Gibralter. We can sandbox it and move it to mainspace at the right moment maybe next year e.g. on the anniversary of the accident. Interested?

Good work on BSMI, if I didn't already say that. EEng (talk) 22:12, 25 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@EEng: I don't want to commit to it right now, because I couldn't get to it right away (I'm currently trying to work on another article, Maximo and Bartola) but I'm definitely interested. Just from a quick glance through prospective sources on Google Books, it looks like there's enough information to make an interesting article. But if the target date is September next year, then it wouldn't exactly be a rush job :).
On a related topic, what do you think of a prospective GA nomination for BSMI (once I tweak the lead a bit)? Do you think it would stand a chance? G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 23:45, 25 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My (admittedly limited) experience with the GA process has been extremely negative -- editors bossily "enforcing" criteria which are either nonexistent or which they completely misunderstand, while unreadable shit gets nonchalantly passed. But assuming you're willing to put up with that particular form of roulette, I think BSMI isn't too far off GA criteria, I think. What strike me offhand are (a) the cites needs a bit of cleanup e.g. Mumford is cited in a mishmash of ways; (b) the writing needs smoothing out along the lines of the copyediting I did for part of it; (c) we should check against Mumford to make sure no major areas of coverage are absent. Thanks for the link you gave in the edit summary to this edit. That is helpful, as now I can see your reason. However, the fact that you suspect that the account may be a sockpuppet, and have asked for your suspicions to be investigated is not enough: you should really wait until the issue is decided one way or the other. Thanks for your latest edit to the article, where you gave a link to the sockpuppet investigation, which enabled me to see your reason. However, the fact that you suspect that the article was created by a sockpuppet account, and have asked for the suspicion to be investigated, is not really enough reason for speedy deletion. It would have been better to have waited until the sockpuppetry question was settled one way or the other. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 13:55, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your "Osama" Bin Laden Page

Just so you know sweetheart, I cant edit the page but its actually Usama Bin Laden. If you would like to confirm this you can check out his FBIs most wanted poster or the fbi.gov website. RedskinsPrincess (talk) 19:33, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, his name was أسامة بن محمد بن عوض بن لادن‎. Whether that's transliterated to the Latin alphabet as "Usama" or "Osama" depends on which stylebook the writer follows and, to some degree, the writer's national language (American journalists tend to go with Osama, EU journalists with Usama). Read this article. Even the FBI acknowledges it can be spelled (or spelt!) either way. Dwpaul Talk 22:02, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dropidas

Hi, thanks for the message. I do not see why you deleted the page Dropidas, great-grandfather of Critias, and perhaps brother of Solon. There was useful information in the page alone that is not contained anywhere in the the Plato page. Anyone searching for Dropidas will find no useful information by being redirected to Plato. Please explain your reasoning for clarification. Best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScythianRider (talkcontribs) 03:39, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@ScythianRider: as it was, the article didn't seem to establish why he was notable. He may be, but you have to remember that notability is not inherited. If you think he truly does merit an article of his own, I suggest starting a draft (which will need sources, possibly from Google Books?) and submitting the draft for peer review via the articles for creation process. This will provide you with more detailed feedback to help you improve the article. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 03:48, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I had included references. Was including a second when you deleted the page. Both were found on google books. The information was valid, as Dropidas is the messenger of large chunks of passages which Critias then passes on to Plato. The passages were referenced down to the page, with the citation provided. I appreciate your advice, however, I believe the page was deleted prematurely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScythianRider (talkcontribs) 03:54, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@ScythianRider: the content was not, in fact, deleted, which means that you can still recover the material you had previously written to start your draft. It can be found in the page history, specifically in this revision. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 13:57, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

hi, i started to create a page of a notable musician, Shakila Ahmed and it was tagged under speedy deletion. i did not realise while creating a page it can be read by people. i thought i had to get it published first! there are plenty of published material on the singer as a credible personality, deserving a wiki page. i would welcome any suggestion how to go about making the page happen. meanwhile, should i retry with sandbox? thank u! Hi Tumharaishq. The page was visible for anyone to see as soon as you hit "save page" (you could have kept working on it without publishing if you had hit "show preview" instead) and I found it via the new pages log. If the subject of your article meets the notability criteria, creating an article in your sandbox and submitting it for review through the articles for creation process would be the best way to go. Speedy deletion of Blue Northern

I have asked that the redirection of Blue Northern to Bill Cowsill be reconsidered and I am asking that the speedy deletion also be reconsidered. The cited profile of the band in canadianbands.com, plus other citations readily searchable, should indicate that this band was more than notable for its Cowsill association, paraticularly in terms of its recording and label history, plus Juno Award nomination, not yet discussed. The page was in the process of development, and so indicated. Please give me time to develop this further.

Displaytitle

I don't think having the displaytitle on talk pages is necessary. I would rather not encourage its proliferation because I don't think it should become a characteristic of talk pages and ultimately lead editors to think that they need to devote time to adding this attribute everywhere. If you want to make this widespread, I would suggest having a discussion at WT:FILM to see if others agree. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 17:17, 27 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Erik: I don't see it as a big deal. I don't go around adding it to talk pages: if I create a page, I include it, and if I am already editing a page, then sometimes I will add one. I'm not asking anyone else to do it, nor am I pushing for it to become common practice (after all, we don't need more bureaucracy). I fail to see how any harm is being done by my adding it to a few talk pages in passing. Thanks, G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 17:26, 27 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, but my concern is that someone will take that approach and run with it. It is purely aesthetic, so any actual effort to make it widespread may result in a backlash consensus to remove it from all talk pages so there is no confusion about whether or not to be applying that cosmetic feature. Maybe this won't happen, but I guess we will see. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 17:35, 27 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Torreón massacre

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Torreón massacre you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Ceradon -- Ceradon (talk) 03:01, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I just wanted to say that I'm not trying to step on you or something. I just really don't think that's a good representative picture (being accurate only to Book 4), and also, it's tiny - it doesn't really enlarge any, which is a bit of a minus. So that's where I'm coming from. BUT! I'm not trying to kick it out - I tagged you on purpose on the fair use orphaning, so you'd know. And now knowing that you really want it in there, I've added more to the caption (for context) and adjusted the position (to make it more illustrative of Book 4, from which it came) with the intent to make having both photos in the article supportable as fair use. I hope that works for you. Solarbird (talk) 07:45, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edit on Asami Sato

Wikipedia clearly states that all edits must be verifiable by legitimate sources. Just so there isn't an edit war, should you find sources that clearly show the creators confirming the claims, then you're welcome to add it back in. Until then, it is NOT fact and shouldn't be added just because a fan of the show thinks it to be fact. (Dubcity4 (talk) 20:32, 7 January 2015 (UTC))[reply]

@Dubcity4: I've been editing Wikipedia for well over a year now, so I am well versed in most of the important policies. This entire debate has already been settled on Talk:Korra - for specific sources see Talk:Korra#The_Big_List_of_Korra-Asami_Relationship_Sources, which was put together by multiple editors, myself not included. While you may not think that that was the implied ending of the show, I assure you that you are almost certainly alone in that belief. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 20:41, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've been editing wikipedia for years now, and your 'justification' for the edit just isn't how editing works. The only thing confirmed by the creators of the show, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, is that Asami and Korra are dating at the season finale (and I've left anything mentioning this on there). It has nothing to do with what I think is the implied ending of the show or how you or any of the editors interpret the ending. As I said earlier, wikipedia edits must be verified by legitimate sources. In terms of the story or how the story should be interpreted, only the creators can verify anything story related. The current references to their tumblr pages do not confirm any of the statements or claims made before my edit, hence why the edit was made. Should you find any sources (interviews, their tumblr page, behind the scenes commentaries) where the creators specifically confirm any particular details, feel free to add them in. As long as you include the references with your edit. (Dubcity4 (talk) 21:01, 7 January 2015 (UTC))[reply]
@Dubcity4: My comment was not meant to touch on the length of your editing career. However, I would appreciate it if you didn't cite policies I already know at me as if I were a newbie. I hope you find the current version more to your liking. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 21:11, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies (I didn't mean it that way). And no, the current edit still fails to meet wikipedia editing guidelines. I'll be more clear with the problems I have with it. 1)It has never been confirmed that Korra and Asami are bi by the creators (Yes, I read through all previous references). Also, there is nothing in those sources to suggest that Korra and Asami are the first major LGBT characters in a western cartoon. The only thing confirmed is that they're are dating. Any other interpretations are just the interpretations of fans. (Dubcity4 (talk) 21:20, 7 January 2015 (UTC))[reply]
@Dubcity4: whatever, I'll let you duke it out with those more passionate about the subject than I. However, it was confirmed (by Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino, the creators) that the couple were, well, a couple. Now for the claim that they are the first LGBT couple to be represented in Western animation. The USA Today source says, and I quote: "We just had the first lesbian (bisexual?) couple on a Nickelodeon animated series." The IBT source calls the show "the first ever children's show to have projected a lesbian relationship". And the Vanity Fair source says "sure, there are shows that are more explicit and progressive when depicting same-sex couples. But those are adult shows. [...] American kids’ shows have a long way to go before L.G.B.T. story lines are considered a matter of course. And none of those examples above quite match Korra and Asami’s climactic spirit portal moment." Forgive me, but I fail to see how this doesn't support the claims in the article. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 21:33, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The ibtimes says that "This is PROBABLY the first ever children's show to have projected a lesbian relationship and fans have mixed reactions about the shocking twist.". 'Probably' isn't the same as a confirmed fact and therefore cannot be used as a verifiable source. The claim here is that the Legend of Korra is the first western animation to feature major characters that are LGBT. This isn't true as Paranorman and the Simpsons did it before the Legend of Korra. Also, being a couple doesn't confirm that they're bisexual. (Dubcity4 (talk) 21:51, 7 January 2015 (UTC))[reply]
@Dubcity4: if you want to discuss the matter further, please continue at Talk:Asami Sato#First major acknowledged LGBT couple in western children's animation, a thread I opened to centralize this discussion. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 21:55, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Dubcity4: also, I presume you are aware of WP:3RR - you are in danger of violating that rule. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 21:59, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if you have been notificated, but I pinged you on the wikiproject cosmology talk page saying that I've added the banner on several article talk pages now. I guess we just have to wait for the alerts now Tetra quark (talk) 16:59, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong move

I think you have done the wrong move by redirecting 'Tehsils of Ganderbal district' to Ganderbal. You should have redirected it to Ganderbal district. thanks Owais Khursheed (Talk to me) 15:13, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor Who Series 9 - Block One

Hello, my (and many other users) edits to this Doctor Who page over the past few days have been continuously reverted. It was confirmed last week by Doctor Who Magazine that Block One of filming consisted of episodes 3 and 4 (I happen to have the magazine myself and know this to be true). This information was fully sourced and nobody seemed to have a problem with it being included in the page. Yet on Wednesday, it was confirmed that Toby Whithouse, Daniel O'Hara and Derek Ritchie would be respectively writing, directing and producing this production block. We know (as stated by the BBC) that the episodes in Block One are written by Whithouse. We know that Block One is episodes 3 and 4 from DWM. Therefore Toby Whithouse is writing episodes 3 and 4. Is there something that I've missed or does this make complete sense? --86.134.246.132 (talk) 16:15, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@86.134.246.132: sorry, it doesn't work that way - that's synthesis. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 17:00, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Alright I suppose this does make sense, thanks. Although surely both things cancel each other out? By this WP:SYNTH thing we can have either piece of information in the production box. It would still be correct if Whithouse, O'Hara and Ritchie were included in the Block 1 row without the note of "Episode 3 and 4", and yet it would still be correct if the info was reversed (i.e if "Episode 3 and 4" were listed without mentioning the production staff) as it is at this current moment in time. --86.134.246.132 (talk) 22:23, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
