Benjamin Proud is an English swimmer[1] and the current Commonwealth champion in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle events. During the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow he won three medals for team England adding bronze in the 4x100m freestyle relay to the two individual event golds.[2][3] He was a student at the Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from kindergarten until year 12 when he left to pursue his swimming career. He had previously been privately trained by Mr. Kui, a professional Malaysian swimmer.

He currently holds both 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly British record.

Proud is currently a student at the University of St Mark and St John, Plymouth and is studying for a Sports Development & Coaching degree. [4]
