Doron Matalon (Template:Lang-he, born 20 May 1993) is an Israeli who won the title of Miss Israel 2014 for Miss Universe 2014. She will represent her country at the Miss Universe 2014 pageant.
Personal life
Doron Matalon was born and raised in Beit Aryeh-Ofarim. Her father is a manager at IBM and her mother is a kindergarten teacher. The meaning of her name is "gift" in both Hebrew and Greek. She served as a sergeant in the Northern Command of the Israeli army.[1]
Pageantry
Miss Israel 2014
Matalon was crowned as the Miss Universe Israel 2014 together with Mor Mamman who was crowned as the official Miss Israel at the pageant. The Miss Israel pageant was held at the Congress Center in Haifa.[2]
Miss Universe 2014
Matalon is now preparing for the Miss Universe 2014 pageant where will compete with more than 80 contestants from all over the world. Miss Universe 2013, Gabriela Isler of Venezuela will crown her successor at end of the event.
Doron Matalan posted a selfie with Miss Lebanon Saly Greige, Miss Slovenia and Miss Japan on Jan. 11, people were outraged due to their feuding countries. Saly revealed “the truth behind the photo” and completely dissed her fellow Miss Universe competitor.
After Doron posted the pic of the smiling girls on her Instagram, which frankly is so adorable, Saly posted the exact same photo on her Instagram — but with Doron cropped out. She attempts to explain why the pic was taken in the first place, dissing Doron.
"To all my supporters and Lebanese citizens, I would like to thank you indeed for your continuous support of Miss Lebanon at the Miss Universe contest… The truth behind the photo, since the first day of my arrival to participate to Miss universe,I was very cautious to avoid being in any photo or communication with Miss isreal, who tried several times to take a photo with me. I was having a photo with Miss Japan, Miss Slovenia, suddenly Miss Israel jumped in and took a selfie, and uploaded it on her social media. This is what happened and I hope to have your full support in the Miss Universe contest."
