Melodifestivalen 2015 will be the Swedish music competition that will select Sweden's 55th entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.[1] Sanna Nielsen (winner of Melodifestivalen 2014) and comedian Robin Paulsson will host the show.[2][3]

For the fourteenth consecutive year, the competition will consist of four semi-finals, a "Second Chance" round, and a final. However, the total number of competing entries will be reduced from 32 to 28. The 28 competing entries will be divided into four semi-finals, with seven compositions in each. From each semifinal, the songs that earn first and second place will go directly to the final, while the songs that place third and fourth will proceed to the Second Chance semi-final. The bottom three songs in each semifinal will be eliminated from the competition.[4]

Format

Melodifestivalen 2015 will be the fourteenth consecutive year in which the competition will take place in different cities across Sweden. The four semifinals will be held in Gothenburg (7 February), Malmö (14 February), Östersund (21 February) and Örebro (28 February). The Second Chance round will be held in Helsingborg on 7 March while the final in Stockholm will be held on 14 March.[4]
