template or quote the previous message.Decline of the Monorail
The decline of the monorail is strongly supported by existing references.
The monorail page is deficient in MANY ways - not enough info and not clear on types , makers of monorail, and statistics (as in numbers in USA ? Europe ? )..
and isn't uptodate since obviously its biased toward the positive..

Hello, I noticed your message : "Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Anna Netrebko), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you!
I'm sorry, because I'm not used to the edit fonction and didn't know how to put references.
So here are some links
http://news2night.com/en/news/anna-netrebko-pozhertvovala-million-donetskomu-opernomu-teatru
http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/author/sophia-kishkovsky/?_r=0 There are also videos of what really happened on you tube proving the presence of the banner of peace.
The problem is that the way the gesture of Netrebko to Donetsk opera is presented on her Wikipedia page is biaised (on purpose ?) because it's incomplete. Some people wanted to make a scandal and damage her reputation about it by making believe she supports war or even separatists when she expressly claimed she didn't support any of the belligerants (see the first link I gave) and wanted to help art and peace. The fact is that she indeed presented the money under the banner of peace, which is an international association promoting peace through art. She gave the money TO the opera TRHOUGH Tsarov explaining she was said he was able to bring the money there. That's not the same thing than giving the money TO Tsarov. So deleting the mention of the banner of peace flag, deleting the fact she wanted peace and art, deleting she considered Tsarev only like the man who could bring the money and only keeping the too short sentence precising "she didn't however want to make politics" (presented like this, it doesn't sound serious) only after 3 lignes about the separatits leader as if she supported him makes a biased information.
The quotation I made was from her Facebook official page and official website. It then had disappeared because nevertheless she received threats and insults.
But some website keep it on their cash pages.
"Anna Netrebko has made a donation of 1 million rubles ($18,500 USD) to the opera house in Donetsk. That donation was made in the context of the International Cultural Forum held in St. Petersburg this past weekend, where she also performed during the Hermitage Ball. Of her donation, she says: "The current conflict worries me very much. My heritage is both Russian and Ukrainian, and it breaks my heart to see the fighting and destruction. I have friends in Donetsk, young musicians who told me that the theater there has been partially destroyed. I wanted to help and support my fellow artists with a donation, because I believe in the power of art in times of conflict and crisis. I want to make clear, however, that this donation is not a political act. This is not about politics, it is about art. I simply want the fighting to end as soon as possible, and I want to support art and artists in a time of terrible conflict. All of us artists must stand up for cultural values and peace in the world."
In reference to the photo with Oleg Tsarov, Netrebko adds, “He was presented to me as the only person who could ensure safe delivery of the funds to the theater in Donetsk. The presence of the flag was unplanned and caught me off guard; I actually did not recognize it at first and realized only later what it was."
At the press conference, Anna presented the Banner of Peace, a symbol of the Roerich Pact, an international treaty for the protection of cultural heritage."
Sorry for annoying you. But I hope then that you'll accept to edit some corrections as mentionning the presence of banner of peace and mentionning she said she supported art and peace and neither of party. Because this is only fact and that's what wikipedia is about. The question whether her gesture was akward or not is another problem. Best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.13.175.91 (talk) 11:48, 13 January 2015 (UTC) Hello, I'm Ruddra66.Can you please tell me how to edit picture of any page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruddra66 (talk • contribs) 10:01, 17 January 2015 (UTC) Hi its Bemel Mesre. WMGM-TV Vandalism
Given the amount of vandalism that has been occurring in this article wouldn't it be prudent to extend the Allow Only Auto-Confirmed to an indefinite period of time give the fact that the person causing the vandalism is hell-bend on causing havoc on Wikipedia. Maybe if you cut off their ability to edit for a minimum of a couple months to a maximum of a year there is the strong possibility that they will just give up and go away. Hi, Yes, I edited out a sentence on the bio of Amy Tenderich. This bio read to me like one written by the subject. It has a lot of detail about someone who I don't think is especially prominent. The bit about being a mom and freelance writer -- that describes most women in several cities so I cut it out. I didn't think I always needed to add a comment saying why. I'll look for that on the edit page in the future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.14.58.56 (talk) 05:17, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Activity from Wikinger proxy range
Can you take a look at User talk:31.61.140.208? The /19 was blocked a while back due to Wikinger activity. Looks like 31.61.140.208 was open at port 7777 up until at least mid-October. INeverCry 21:12, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- I don't have data on Wikinger and thus can't tell if this unblock request comes from him. The reason for rangeblock is already gone from CU logs. I see no proxy on 31.61.140.208. There is only one unblock request on this range withing the last few months. That's all I can tell. Materialscientist (talk) 21:23, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Pistol
I applaud you for blocking the pistol page from further warring, however I believe the user "Lukeno94" made incorrect changes to the page by removing the revolver section. While some may believe a pistol has an integrated chamber, that is not the accurate definition, and I must point out the harmonica pistol, which is listed on the page works the same a s a revolver, except the chambers are in line rather than in a circle. I would also point out a simple search for "define revolver comes up with: "re·volv·er rəˈvälvər/ noun noun: revolver; plural noun: revolvers
a pistol with revolving chambers enabling several shots to be fired without reloading."
A simple search on google will confirm this. I was going to try to make the appropriate changes to the page as I am a firearms enthusiast and quite knowledgeable in the subject, however I have yet to make enough edits to be "autocomfirmed". If you would not mind making the revisions to undo the edits taking out the revolver section it would make this old Marine very grateful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prodigy 16 (talk • contribs) 01:23, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
Policy question
Hello, Materialscientist. What is the policy for dealing with very similar IPs making disruptive edits as here and here. Should you warn each one separately, or treat them collectively as one user.– Gilliam (talk) 04:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- It all depends on your judgement whether this is the same person. If no, then warn as different editors. If yes then warn separately, but you may escalate warning levels treating all IPs as one. IP hopping may be either intentional or unintentional - this is hard to know. Materialscientist (talk) 05:03, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- If I block them all at once, what can I use as a blocking reason?– Gilliam (talk) 05:07, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- It's your call. Manual "blocking them all at once" is tedious, you possibly mean rangeblock, for which there is a standard choice in the blocking options,
{{rangeblock}}

Student who cannot get into her account for blocked IP address
Hi... students at my school are working on Wikipedia projects (mostly in Spanish but a few in en.wiki)
Is having problems accessing en.wiki (but not es.wiki) User:LiliYbarra because it looks like you blocked 107.178.45.84 ... I assume for vandalism. She cant open en.wiki directly and when she links over to it from an article in es.wiki, it shows she is not in her account. Ive never seen this before. Any advice for her?Thelmadatter (talk) 18:48, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Reverted Additions
I believe you were in error in deleting all the external links I added. They linked to legitimate research papers, meant to add to the information already posted. If nothing else, perhaps they belong in actual External Links sections, rather than See Also sections. Just curious...Why did you undo my work while leaving blatant links to corporate websites intact (Allgaier, Ventilex, TKS Industrial, Almo Process)? Almo/Allgaier even footnotes their own websites in the Reference sections...Isn't that a violation of Wikipedia law?

Question about a user
Hey Marterialscientist, I have a question for you. Could you possibly look into User:MichiganWolverines2015 and User:CanadaMichigan2015 as being a sock puppet? I believe User:Michiganwolverines2014 is also the same person. They keep being disruptive and are making the same edits with each account. I think they are here to only vandalize. Their files have either been deleted on Commons or they are nominated for deletion. I would open a sock puppet investigation, but I have been falsely accused of being a sock before and would really not like to go through that again. I'll be glad to help out in any way, but would rather have someone else open up the investigation (if there hasn't been one done already...) Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 16:55, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

I was going through the article and changing all of the date formats. I didn't realize that Wikipedia had a variety of date formats that could be arbitrarily applied as long as they are applied consistently. I read some of the linking guidelines, but I was still wondering why you removed the link I put in DaveGrohl (software). Was it Copyrighted? The official Dave Grohl website has been down for a while, but I downloaded the software before it went down, so I thought I would put a dropbox download link on the WIkipedia page. Sorry if that was wrong/copyrighted. I do not believe my adding of the link qualifies for needing a "Good Faith Revert" because it was constructive since it was providing a way to access some currently-inaccessible open-source software. Your undoing of external link edit
Please stop undoing the edit of the page. It IS a constructive edit. The inclusion of that credit block offers no actual information about the show itself and is not a reflection of the show, its creators or actors, none of whom wish to be associated with the alternate programming, but most importantly it only serves to create more confusion about whether or not the show was created as original content for the channel, which it was. Including information about other unrelated productions that were either replaced by a new production or later replaced that production does not serve to illuminate the production itself and in this case actually creates more confusion about the production. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.205.38.238 (talk) 20:36, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Recent block, TPA now revoked
You blocked Steven200509 for vandalism, and I admit I should probably have blocked him myself, but it would have been for CIR. Favonian subsequently cancelled his talkpage access; I wonder whether either of you noticed the edit I swept under the rug at User talk:ClueBot Commons, and the user name. There may be an extenuating circumstance for the "little sister" defence. Yngvadottir (talk) 13:28, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Yngvadottir: I did see it. There doesn't seem to be any discontinuity in the quality of the edits, which I agree are incompetent rather than vandalism, so I don't think there's any case to be made for unblocking. Assuming that this is indeed a minor, we should probably leave him blocked and without the channel for getting himself into further trouble. Favonian (talk) 16:53, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- Good point. My concern is for us not to be unnecessarily cruel, and I spoke up because of the withdrawal of talk page access, but maybe that too, winds up being a kindness. Yngvadottir (talk) 17:06, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Need advice on Special:Contributions/82.18.242.88
Hi, we've silently crossed paths recently fighging vandalism and I was hoping you could provide some advice. I'm not quite sure what to do about Special:Contributions/82.18.242.88. I'm a bit suspicious about this account but I think I may be a little paranoid and am looking for a 2nd opinion. Can you look over a few of the edits and let me know if concern is needed here? I'm having trouble determining if these are good-faith edits or rather subtle vandalism hiding amongst good edits. Also, if I wanted someone to take a look at this what would be a good noticeboard to post it on? Thanks, —Noah 00:44, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, edit summaries are suspicious, but you need to look through actual edits to decide for yourself. In my view, this is one of those good-faith editors, who crawl through the wiki and fix links and errors, but also add bio details from IMDb and similar unreliable sources - a mixed bag (though I haven't looked deeply). Materialscientist (talk) 01:01, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking... it was more than just the edit summaries that caught my eye... but it's a lot to plow through. If I can find some specific examples of what is bothering me is it OK if I share them with you? —Noah 01:08, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, but keep in mind my previous message - this is one of those gray areas where personal opinion matters; like what should we do when we see an unsourced (or poorly sourced) good-faith addition? Revert, revert and warn, leave it, fix it with proper source, etc.? My decision in such situations is usually spontaneous. Materialscientist (talk) 01:47, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Reverted change to Organic compound
Hi Materialscientist,
You reverted a change I made to Organic compound. I added a note to the talk page about why I think the reference should be removed. The statement "Others state that if a molecule contains carbon―it is organic" uses Morrison and Boyd as a reference, with no page number. I do not believe the reference supports that statement. Here is the note I added to the talk page:
- The Morrison and Boyd text never defines "organic compound." The book opens with "Organic chemistry is the chemistry of the compounds of carbon." However, on the first page they discuss the historic distinction between inorganic and organic compounds, and go on to say:
The authors clearly do not consider all compounds containing Carbon to be organic. I replaced the reference with [Citation needed], but I think the statement should be removed. --An anonymous chemistry student."The division between inorganic and organic compounds has been retained to this day. Today, although many compounds of carbon are still most conveniently isolated from plant and animal sources, most of them are synthesized. They are sometimes synthesized from inorganic substances like carbonates or cyanides, but more often from other organic compounds. Morrison, Robert T.; Boyd, Robert N.; Boyd, Robert K. (1992). Organic Chemistry (6th ed.). Benjamin Cummings. p. 1. ISBN 0-13-643669-2."

Don't you think that justifies the removal of the reference?
Sincerely,

Hi. I edited an article about Greek Mythology and just after I finished it was taken down by you saying that it was not verifiable. I only wrote it because it IS verifiable. - I used the basic "revert" gadget of Wikimedia software - it does not allow leaving an edit summary and is neutral (no good/bad faith assumptions). Materialscientist (talk) 03:04, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I fail to see why it is appropriate for you to revert for a second time. There was nothing wrong with the previous source, and the change is typical of new users who make no attempt to get consensus for their changes. If one is to have a discussion on talk, then the previous stable version (as much as anything is ever stable on an Indian film article) should be restored... biased editing
Dear checkuser: a wikipedian named "MezzoMezzo" is trying to change religious pages into his opinion based texts. ALTHOUGH you may find him a good wikipedian as he hs edited many pages yet my doubt is about its neutral point of view. He is from a different sect and edits every other sects pages according to which his own sect get privilaged .
For eg: see as how he says: lk]])absolutely no proof in the articles of these people that any of them are barelvi and for crying out loud, one of them was saudi "Crying" means what here. Is he fightingor what? Please check this issue.

Questionable editors
Materialscientist,
Sorry to bother you, but I need an administrator's help, again! I was wondering if you could look into a few editors. On Weekend Today (Australian TV program), a few editors, who only edit this article, keep adding names to the article who are not notable per WP:LISTPEOPLE. Those users are User:Tomatoseds, User:Happyies, User:Howards storage world, User:Jillop, User:Usernamesed, User:Giraffesde, User:Factoriesed, User:Pigglots, User:Bogbang and User:Aboringinalsderf. Like I said, they are all making the same edits and only to this article and I'm more than 90% sure that are that same person. It seems like after I've reverted one edit, BOOM! a new user adds the same information. This is why I am questioning them. I've also created a discussion on the talk page, as well. I know it seems like a lot of users (some may not even be the same person), but it just doesn't seem right that multiple people would do this sort of thing. Let me know if there is anything else I need to do. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 19:04, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Removal of my edit on Archaeopteryx
I have found a number of sources for my post, if this insufficient please tell me. Otherwise do I need to rewrite the post or not? Thank you
http://www.the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/9066/title/It-s-a-Fake--It-s-Genuine---You-Decide/ "In 1985, the astronomers Fred Hoyle and Chandra Wickramasing he wrote an article in the British Journal of Photography claiming that Archaeopteryx is a fake."
http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CC/CC351.html The feather imprints of the London Archaeopteryx specimen were forged. Evidence for this is that
"The feather impressions appear only on the slab, not on the counterslab. The surface texture is different between the feathered and unfeathered areas. Slightly elevated "blobs" appear which are not always matched by depressions on the counterslab. The feathers show "double strike" impressions. Hairline cracks which pass through both bones and feathers could have formed by slight movements to the slab after the cement was in place. Under magnification, the limestone appears different in fossil and non-fossil areas of the specimen. Unknown material appears within the matrix in the fossil area. An x-ray chemical analysis showed chemical differences, including silicon, sulfur, and chlorine in the fossil area that were not present in the non-fossil area."

Block evasion Gotty14
Hi,
An IP was blocked by you after using incorrect edit summaries 86.1.44.138 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), now User:Gotty14 has continued with same edit summary everywhere and editing same article. Is it block evasion when IP is blocked and continue as an account? Look at edit history at Championship (rugby league) (see here) it is very obvious that when Gotty14 stopped editing with his account around 17 November 2014, he continued as IP and now that IP is blocked he uses account again. - This edit summary is generated by some software and is not an evidence of socking. However, unsourced changes can be reverted and tagged as such. Materialscientist (talk) 21:55, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes I realise that, but to me it is obvious when looking at article history provided above. When Gotty stopped editing the IP edited until it was blocked. Now Gotty is back when IP is blocked. QED237 (talk) 22:10, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Chaulin humberto tuteto
Hey M, would you please take a look at user Chaulin humberto tuteto's recent edits? He keeps removing PROD templates from a vapor project My Little Pony: Equestria Girls 3. The only source is a Facebook comment from someone we presume is affiliated with the series who says only that the company has acquired the rights to a new movie, not that a new movie is in production. That makes the totality of the article speculative. I've filed a speedy delete request, but the user is behaving poorly and I think you were the last one to block him. Thanks. Forbidden City
Hi Materialscientist, there have been several anonymous users who are adding unsourced and redundant changes to the lead section of Forbidden City, see [7] and [8]. The point these users were trying to make is actually already mentioned in the third paragraph of the article (i.e. that the museums were split), but these users insist on adding a ton of redundant materials to it. The lead right now is looking very messy. I tried to revert these users, but they are quite persistent. It seems like same was also did to the Chinese Civil War article, and probably other articles. Can you respond here, and I will check back with you. Thanks.--TheLeopard (talk) 00:56, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

About your (non)participation in the January 2012 SOPA vote
Hi. I am Piotr Konieczny (User:Piotrus), you may know me as an active content creator (see my userpage), but I am also a professional researcher of Wikipedia. Recently I published a paper (downloadable here) on reasons editors participated in Wikipedia's biggest vote to date (January 2012 WP:SOPA). I am now developing a supplementary paper, which analyzes why many editors did not take part in that vote. Which is where you come in :) You are a highly active Wikipedian (13th most active!), and you were active back during the January 2012 discussion/voting for the SOPA, yet you did not chose to participate in said vote. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me why was that so? For your convenience, I prepared a short survey at meta, which should not take more than a minute of your time. I would dearly appreciate you taking this minute; not only as a Wikipedia researcher but as a fellow content creator and concerned member of the community (I believe your answers may help us eventually improve our policies and thus, the project's governance). Just FYI, you seem to have rather hurriedly reverted seven edits from Falamander on Investor—all of which were made in good faith and quite helpful to the article. As such, the article sat in a messy state for the last month—the latter few sections were even duplicated! I have restored Falamander's changes (manually and rather painstakingly due to interim edits).
While I'm sure you do Wikipedia a great service by combating vandalism, perhaps a little more review wouldn't hurt before expeditiously clicking "rollback", especially when using such a powerful tool against a registered user. Falamander provided some edit summaries that explained what he or she was doing and why, but you appear to have assumed that he or she was just section blanking without checking to see if there really was the "duplication of information" described. Also, only three of the edits were fixing duplication of information; the other four were obvious grammatical fixes, but you clearly never viewed those diffs.
So please, take a little more than a fraction of a second to decide whether to revert a batch of edits. Otherwise, you might be doing more harm to Wikipedia than good by stalling the natural repair process. Worse yet, you may inadvertently be biting the newbies. And from where I stand, you might owe Falamander an apology. – voidxor (talk | contrib) 02:51, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

- The answer is quite simple. First, information needs to be verifiable, which means we need reliable sources in order to verify that what you say is true. It needs to be notable, which means it should be widely reported in a number of reliable sources ... or, at the very least, one reliable source. Foremost, it needs to be neutral and non-promotional, whereas your addition is written in persuasive style and reads like an advertisement glorifying the company and its products. Wikipedia is not for promotion. Zaereth (talk) 09:24, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Copyright
I understand its OK to use "brief verbatim textual excerpts from copyrighted media". But if whole sections of an article have been copied which has happened in Teachings of Falun Gong can the whole article be removed or just the sections where excessive copying has occurred? The whole of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teachings_of_Falun_Gong#Practice appears to have been copied. Thanks Aaabbb11 (talk) 12:32, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- In general, only the copied text should be removed. This particular case is unclear because the text appears as quotes. You can argue on the talk page that the Practice section does not need to quote so much from the source, and if there is a consensus for this change, the quotes can be trimmed or removed. Request for help with proxy unblock request
At User talk:Rpo.castro there is a request for an unblock of IP address 185.58.82.6, which is blocked by ProcseeBot. The editor says that it is his or her work network. Several times ovr yesterday and today I ran nmap, and also tried connecting to the proxy on the port that ProcseeBot specified (8080), and each time nmap has said that all ports are filtered, and my attempts to connect have failed. My impression is that it is not an open proxy, if it ever was. However, perhaps you could have a look, since there may be relevant CheckUser evidence that I can't see, and also since I get the impression you know more about proxies than I do. Article: Hydronium, Section: Structure, statement that 'isoelectronic' atoms have equal number of PROTONS??????
I noticed that you reverted an edit (Jan 25th-2240hrs) that had corrected this statement to read 'electrons' within a few minutes of it being made. I have made the same correction and think you ought not to be so hasty in reverting other peoples good faith edits. If you have two atoms with the same number of protons they are of the same element although they might be ions having differing numbers of electrons. I have consulted the respected textbook 'General Chemistry' - fifth edition, and in Chapter 9 - Atomic properties and the Periodic Table, page 289, last paragraph it states ...Na+, Mg2+, and Ne are 'isoelectronic' - they have equal numbers of electrons (10) in identical configurations, 1s2,2s2,2p6. The road-sign-related editing here is Jermboy's one and only subject. This time he's disturbing the sandbox of another editor, who then blanked it. Meta suggested local projects deal with this IP on a seperate basis after I requested a g-block. INeverCry 22:15, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Miguel Cotto
I edited this page because a known Miguel Cotto hater put up some bias, non confirmed rhetoric about journalists and fans alike all feeling a certain way about the subject matter. It was blatantly unfactual and non objective. Lets stick to the raw facts of the situation without any misleading bias. Jcancel (talk) 23:20, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

it was long so I googled it and half the text comes up on some other website
if not, I apologize. I'm going fast trying to keep things clean.

- Inconclusive - many websites copy content from Wikipedia. Materialscientist (talk) 00:04, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
- Did you not just add it? If it you wrote it somewhere else it is WP:OR and still reversible. JKshaw (talk) 03:28, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
- Anyway look I'm not here to argue. I have a little free time and trying to help with RC and vandalism. You're clearly not doing anything nefarious. Good day sir. JKshaw (talk) 03:34, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Re: Alchemist
MAn, In cases like Alchemist's we're not talking of a mainstream artist (thank god he isn't) or a prime minister here. In this case - Twitter announcements are the BEST source you can get. Alchemist announces EVERYTHING via his twitter. Only there. I have him on notification in my iPhone so every time he tweets - I get it right away. a lot of the times - it's big news coming RIGHT FROM THE MAN HIMSELF (and yes, he is running his own account not someone else, again we're not talking about Eminem here). Maybe in a lot of cases, Twitter can be an unreliable source. I post tweets as sources only when I know it is legit info and it's coming from a source I know is reliable - the people whom the info is dealing with.

Capt Jack Doicy
It happens that you have had interaction with 82.41.41.184 on two pages that I have tagged in Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Capt Jack Doicy. I have not mentioned your user name, because you are not directly involved, but I thought you might be interested. -- PBS (talk) 13:29, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

spambot
Hi. The spambot you just blocked - I have just reported a handful of these to WP:OP, adding this. --Dirk Beetstra T C 04:45, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. In my experience most wikispambots are not open proxies, but are private (perhaps VPN-like) IPs which are either not shared or shared by a small group. Nevertheless, I'll check those IPs in a few hours when I get to a suitable PC. Materialscientist (talk) 04:53, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- In that case, maybe a block of a couple of months is more suitable - they are already at it for >24 hours, 31 hours is certainly short (I have only seen one IP which was used by others, collateral damage is likely low). I think I have quite a number of them now. --Dirk Beetstra T C 05:07, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- I've (range)blocked several from your list, for a year or more. As I expected, they are not open proxies, but IPs given to shady companies by hosts in Ukraine, Russia, China and such. Sometimes dozens of them on one IP. Rangeblocks for dynamic IPs (like those from China), static for static. Materialscientist (talk) 05:41, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I wonder if the viagra spammers are related, strange attacks by all those IPs - we never see so many attempts for so long, this must be 'the same person' .. --Dirk Beetstra T C 06:44, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Don't know about same person, maybe. I saw various things in CU logs (in the past, no for "your" recent IPs), like various computers spamming in the same pattern, or one computer advertising various products from the same IP using different templates. Materialscientist (talk) 06:48, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- It continues: [10][11][12] -- same ISP. MER-C 12:44, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Same ISP, but all IPs there come from different subranges. We can integrally block 95.79.0.0/16, but CU scan shows that there will be collateral damage (on all subranges), thus I would bear with them for now. As I understand their edits are blocked by filters. Materialscientist (talk) 13:06, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Shenanigans?
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Silion -- are these other delete commenters the same user? Or established users that happened to comment? I probably don't have time to investigate now, but looks suspicious at first glance. Calliopejen1 (talk) 05:59, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- One user is certainly not, the other is uncertain. I've indeffed Richard C. Stone, and I have a good guess who is the sockmaster. Thanks for cleanup. Materialscientist (talk) 06:21, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
oopsie to fix
Hey, another editor implemented the same fix, just before you did, so your fix actually messed it up. See here; I think you didn't notice it, because your edit went through and should indeed have fixed the situation. Anyhow, your move then created a redirect to itself; the dab page needs to be restored. cheers, --doncram 06:07, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, seems Ok now. Materialscientist (talk) 06:09, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm, yes, i see it is right now, though I swear it was not, a minute ago, and I don't see edit history showing a re-fix. Maybe i was just wrong, or maybe media-wiki works in mysterious ways. cheers, --doncram 06:12, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

National Utility Contractors Association
I am communications coordinator for NUCA and we recently edited that page with more accurate information. We haven't engaged with Wikipedia before, but we would like to be able to post our own information for our Wikipedia article, and to be able to monitor it ourselves. Thank you for your cooperation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.255.114.105 (talk) 16:29, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Oops by me.
Materialscientist, I definitely don't want to appear as if I'm taking part in an Edit War! What happened was I cut and pasted my Edit multiple times simply because I was trying to figure the best place to place the Edit within the article. Also my iPad mini was giving me fits. Hey MS, Thank you for the input. I rewrote the sentence for the Humic Acid page. I studied Turf Science at NC State and am still in contact with some of the professors there, which is why I wanted to include their research on the Humic Acid page. Plus I believe that it will benefit the general public, as well as our country and it's soil, for people to have access to relevant soil science. I am new at Wikipedia, so thanks for the guidance.

Hello Material Scientist,
I saw the re-editing that you've done on the page on 'Iritty'. Well, i don't have any references to provide for the information i've added. But i'm very sure that what i've provided is accurate. Iritty is definitely a stronghold of migrant Christians from Travancore, who began occupying the region starting from the early years of the 20th century. I think this point is worthy of emphasis. Anyways, would you let me know why you think it isn't necessary to be added in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.247.207.17 (talk) 02:53, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Valid links
Hello Materialscientist,
The links I was adding to some of the thickness testing articles was definitely valid as some people come here looking for ways of actually measuring thickness in a given material. The links provide quick access to such instruments.
Please refrain from removing said links again,
