Seasons?
Apologies if this has been discussed before and a consensus was reached.
I always considered the 1991 ABC season and the 1991 Disney Afternoon season to collectively constitute Season One, while the 1992 ABC season constituted Season Two, and that was it: no Season Three. To contend that the 1991 ABC season is a "later season" than the 1991 Disney Afternoon season strikes me as odd. As they were broadcast simultaneously (as is acknowledged), and a couple characters had their "origin stories" (using the term "origin" loosely) in episodes that were part of the 1991 ABC season (Darkwing meeting Morgana for the first time, Darkwing meeting Gizmoduck for the first time ... it's not like those episodes were presented as flashbacks), it seemed that the intention of the show's creators was that the 1991 Disney Afternoon season and the 1991 ABC season went right alongside each other, or better yet, were intermixed.
My memory may fail me, but I thought I read years ago in the animation 'zine Animato! that all of the 1991 ABC season was actually broadcast as a "preview" on The Disney Channel during the spring of '91. I have no idea if that's true or not. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rywn (talk • contribs) 05:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC).
The syndicated episodes and the first 13 ABC episodes were all part of the first season. They aired and were produced at the same time. There is no such thing as a season three. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.195.57.230 (talk) 17:20, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
The designation of the syndicated episodes as "season 1" and the first 13 ABC episodes as "season 2" is simply used to differentiate the syndicated and ABC episodes, which at the time were indeed considered to be separate by Disney. Even after their original run, the ABC shows were still treated as a separate group of episodes - they were never run on The Disney Afternoon, and were not rerun together with the syndicated episodes until the entire series went into reruns on the Disney Channel and Toon Disney. In short, it's just for clarification purposes.--99.167.195.150 (talk) 19:28, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
There should be far easier ways to differentiate these two groups of episodes than labeling them as two different seasons, especially considering what was labeled as "season 2" actual began airing BEFORE the syndicated episodes. It all just leads to a lot of confusion. Additionally, the airdates listed here (and in several other sources) are flat out wrong. New episodes were mixed with repeats and continued to air until May of 1992. Why would episodes airing in November of 1991 have 1992 copyrights? Why would a Valentines episode air in the fall? And why would I have all of these episodes from their ORIGINAL AIRINGS mixed in with first run episodes of the third season of the Simpsons from the Winter and Spring of 1992 if new episodes of Darkwing Duck stopped airing in November of 1991. That's because they didn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.195.57.230 (talk) 03:58, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Additionally, the information about the ABC episodes not airing together with the syndicated ones is 100% false. The episodes from the 1991 ABC season were mixed into the syndicated run in the fall of 1992 and the same thing happened to the 1992 ABC episodes in the fall of 1993. They certainly were not withheld until 1995 and aired on the Disney Channel first. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.195.57.230 (talk) 04:10, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Very long tag
I added this tag to this article beacuse it is becoming very long with the plot summaries on the episodes. I suggest that separate articles be started for the individual episodes, just like for Ducktales. As well as a new category: Darkwing Duck episodes.205.251.53.132 21:56, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- There are articles for the episodes, actually...but only two of them. If they were to be made for all the episodes, then I'm all for removing the summaries from this article. Bloodshedder 22:33, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps someone with more knowledge of the series than myself could shorten the summaries in the list. Maybe stick with a two sentence limit per episode. --Narlee 02:23, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Merger proposal
I think Darkly Dawns the Duck should be merged there is insufficient evidence of notability. Dwanyewest (talk) 16:07, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- Support - I was originally convinced that this television special must be sufficiently notable to justify its own article, but I've been searching for possible sources and haven't come up with much other than list entries. Here's what I found: [1], [2], [3], [4]. If anyone can find significant independent coverage, I would support keeping the article separate. Otherwise, the merge should go ahead. Neelix (talk) 21:00, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- Support - if there is no evidence to prove notability, then the merger is necessary. Since there was no opposition, I performed the merge. --LoЯd ۞pεth 04:43, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Episode airdates
To Xeworlebi,
The airdates I submitted that you reverted came from a post on the Toonzone.net forums by a member who put it together "based on old Usenet posts and the order of recorded episodes on my VHS tapes." These Usenet posts are no longer available on Google Groups, but they match the memories of a friend of mine, who also taped the episodes on their original Disney Afternoon run, and specifically recalled: "the first 4-5 weeks of the show saw first-runs five days a week before repeats finally set in, but from then on new episodes were sporadic. The fall run ended with "It's a Wonderful Leaf" airing sometime in December. Then there was a block of shows running in February ("Twitching Channels" to "Stressed to Kill") and another block of shows in the spring ("The Darkwing Squad" to "Bad Luck Duck".)" The list I found on Toonzone matched this exactly, with the first four weeks being uninterrupted premieres, then new episodes being aired interspersed with reruns until November, "It's a Wonderful Leaf" on December 23, the Friday before Christmas, then the episodes from "Twitching Channels" to "Stressed to Kill" over Feb. 5-March 3, 1992 (again, interspersed with reruns), then the episodes from "The Darkwing Squad" to "Bad Luck Duck" in May 1992 (though the specific dates were not recorded).
I do not condone the edit made by someone else after you reverted my edits (the one which proclaimed in bold that the information on the page was wrong). However, that "vandal" was correct in that the episodes did not air uninterrupted from until Dec. 6, 1991. I explained the reason for this in the discussion in "List of Aladdin episodes":
The orders/dates circulated around the Internet in recent years, the ones I am arguing to be erroneous, are most often sourced from sites like epguides.com and TV.com, which often work from undated episode lists, and use conjecture to date the episodes. They simply "plug in" consecutive airdates starting with the documented premiere date, making the assumption that there were no reruns aired in between.
This is not how new episodes were aired on The Disney Afternoon - they were staggered out over a long period of time, September-May (or September-February for some later series like Bonkers and Aladdin), beginning with several uninterrupted weeks of new episodes, then new episodes mixed with repeats to late November or thereabouts, then only repeats until sweeps periods in February, when more new episodes would be shown. (In the cases of earlier series like Darkwing Duck and Goof Troop, a third batch of new episodes would be held back until May, again to coincide with sweeps.)
The Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day episodes of Darkwing were indeed shown during their respective holiday periods - in the list from which I made my changes, "Ghoul of My Dreams" is listed as airing Oct. 31 '91, "It's a Wonderful Leaf" on Dec. 23 '91, and "My Valentine Ghoul" on Feb. 14 '92. This makes more sense than the dates currently attached to those episodes, and lends credence to the accuracy of the dates I used in my edits. Unfortunately, my source has no specific dates for the May episodes, but I hope to determine those dates through further research.
In short, I ask Xeworlebi and the other editors to accept my changes to the episode airdates, because I spent much time doing extra research before deciding to edit this page. I do not condone the vandalism done by another user; I simply want to make my case as to why I believe that my edits should be accepted. --Jeffrey Gray --99.167.195.150 (talk) 19:21, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah no, forums are not reliable sources. Xeworlebi (talk) 19:33, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm the friend the first poster here is talking about, and the airdate information in the "seasons" section above was posted by myself. "Yeah no, forums are not reliable sources" is a really rotten way to blow off this person's contributions, especially one's I can back up with video taped evidence. Sad his information isn't being taken seriously, and I say this as someone who watched this show when it FIRST AIRED, taped every episodes and has an almost photographic memory of the program's history. Shame. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.195.57.230 (talk) 04:03, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Unproduced Episodes section: Delete?
In various places on the Internet, show creator Tad Stones has denied knowledge of these episodes and reported that a third ABC season was never really seriously considered. I remember seeing a similar list (but certainly not identical in size or contents) floating around the Internet as hearsay in the late nineties.
The entire section is also entirely unsourced. I think this is half-rumor, half-fan fantasy, and at best eighth-truth. I suggest we delete the entire section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thesycophant (talk • contribs) 19:52, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
