CinemaNow is a World Wide Web-based digital video distribution company. The company was founded in 1999. The CinemaNow library contains approximately 7,500 feature-length films, shorts, music concerts and television programs from more than 250 licensors, including 20th Century Fox, ABC News, Disney, Endemol, MGM, Miramax, NBC Universal, Sony, Sundance Channel, Warner Bros. and Lions Gate Entertainment. On May 14, 2006 it was announced that users would be able to download films with adult content from Vivid Entertainment from the site then burn them to DVDs. It is believed that this will be a prevalent distribution method for mainsteam movies in the future. The company is partly owned by Microsoft.
