Peter Sullivan
Peter M. Sullivan is a New Hampshire state representative for the county of Hillsborough, New Hampshire. Born in Virginia, Sullivan is a Democrat and serves in the House Committee for Criminal Justice and Public Safety. In addition to serving in the state legislature, Sullivan is an attorney in Manchester.
Sullivan is the son of Peter J. Sullivan and Ann (Donovan) Sullivan of Kingston, New Hampshire.
Sullivan is a graduate of the University of New Orleans and the University of Arkansas School of Law. He served for ten years as a member of the US Army Reserve and the Army National Guard, including five years of service as a commissioned officer.
In 2003, Sullivan was named one of the top one hundred rising stars in the Democratic Party by the Democratic Leadership Council.
As a member of the New Hampshire House, Sullivan has been heavily involved in efforts to strengthen the state's ethics laws. He has also been a leading advocate for victims of crime, authoring the Crime Victim Employment Leave Act.
Sullivan for a time was a candidate for U.S. Congress in New Hampshire's first district. He withdrew from the race in July of 2006, citing health concerns.
