EIDR
EIDR, or the Entertainment Identifier Registry, is a persistent, universal unique identifier system within the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) scheme for motion pictures and television programs. The identification system uses metadata that is associated with top-level titles, edits, DVDs, encodings, clips, and mash-ups.
The system is managed by the Entertainment ID Registry Association, a non-profit consortium of over 80 member organizations including the founders: Movielabs, CableLabs, Comcast and Rovi.
Number format
The DOI prefix for EIDR audiovisual content records is 10.5240. The suffix consists of 20 hexadecimal digits followed by a Base 36 check-digit.[1][2] The check digit is an ISO 7064 Mod 37,36 check (rather than Mod 17,16) in order to permit possible future expansion of the EIDR format.[3]
An example of an EIDR content ID is: 10.5240/1489-49A2-3956-4B2D-FE16-5.
