Retired architect living in Baja, interested in the historical use of natural forms in architecture, especially polyhedrons and other non-rectangular solids with space-filling geometries like catalan solids After 2011, Poirier devoted himself solely to a non-profit project called "Hi-Tect", a series of proposed solutions to manufactured housing resilent to all natural disasters. Those are presented on a website . More recently, he has proposed an alternate athlete village ot he IOC for the Winter Games of 2022 to be held in Kazakhstan or China.

Poirier's earlier career was in the snowmobile industry, having worked five years for three different manufacturers. His main employer Sno*Jet made him chief designer from 1971 to 1974. As such he designed around 20 models including the SabreJet and the ThunderJet shown here.
