Significant News Item

The Mexican state has vouched for 1887 and the media are full of this so removing tag, maybe been sourced since placed 3 mo ago. Lycurgus (talk) 09:41, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not only is there no citation for this, even if there were it changes nothing. She is still just another "oldest person" claimant. They are a dime dozen and she has no more claim to notability than many others who failed Afd. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 09:51, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There's no lack of examples of the appalling and semi-charmed nature of human being and none better than this. This individual, who as you state, at this point is nothing more than another questionable longevity claimant, nonetheless appears to be likely to be the actual oldest known human lifetime. Unlike Calment, the class and national circumstances of her situation create the inertial resistance to finding the matter of fact out. Thank you for illustrating that with your colorful response. To see that her claim is plausible consider that a) Calment might have lived longer, b) Calment died 17 years ago, c) it's unlikely Calment was the actual oldest human ever, someone having lived 5 years longer is hardly impossible, d) the reported Tamaulipas state verification of August 1887, and finally e) this individual, if her claim is verified, was born 12 years after Calment. I think if the actual longest lifetime were known it would be about 130. This is likely to be verified from a case like this or this case specifically. Minor Point

Her date of death is indicated as the 19th in the fact box as well as on the Wikipedia Death page, but in the lead paragraph of the article it says her date of death was 10th. Probably a typo there.
