Template:Navbox vertical 2015 Varsity Rugby is the 2015 edition of four rugby union competitions annually played between several university teams in South Africa. It will be contested from January to April 2015 and will be the eighth edition of this tournament.

Rules

All four 2015 Varsity Rugby competitions will use a different scoring system to the regular system. Tries are worth five points as usual, but conversions are worth three points, while penalties and drop goals are only worth two points.[1]

All Varsity Cup games will also have two referees officiating each game,[2] props' jerseys featured a special gripping patch to ensure better binding, intended to reduce collapsing scrums[3] and the mark was extended to the entire field.[4]

Competition Rules

There will be eight participating universities in the 2015 Young Guns competition. These teams will be divided into two pools and each team will play every team in the other pool once over the course of the season, either home or away.

Teams will receive four points for a win and two points for a draw. Bonus points will be awarded to teams that score four or more tries in a game, as well as to teams that lose a match by seven points or less. Teams are ranked by log points, then points difference (points scored less points conceded).

The top two teams overall will qualify for the title play-off final.
