Gabriel B. Mindlin
Jorge C. Lucero is a Full Professor (Professor Titular[1]) of computer science at the University of Brasília and a top cited Argentine-Brazilian scientist[2], whose research focuses on voice and speech production.
Lucero graduated in electrical engineering from the National University of Cordoba (Argentina, 1985) with a Diploma for Merits. He was a graduate scholar of the Ministry of Education of Japan and received a Ph.D. (1993) in Engineering from Shizuoka University[3]. He was Postdoctoral Fellow at both Queen's University[4] and the University of Toronto (1996-1997)[5], Associated Researcher of the CNRS (France, 2010-2011)[6], and Visiting Researcher at Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium, 2012, 2013).
Lucero's research work is internationally recognized for the mathematical modeling of the vocal fold oscillation during phonation and the application of the theory of dynamical systems to voice and speech[7][8][9][10][11]. He is also known for the analysis of speech articulation using techniques of functional data analysis[12][13], the 3D modeling of the human face for computer speech animations[14], and has made relevant contributions to the analysis and synthesis of voice disorders. He has over one hundred publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings, with over 800 citations[15]. His research has been supported by grants from Brazilian funding agencies, international cooperation programs of Brazil with France, Belgium, Argentina and Chile[6], and grants of the National Institute of Deafness and Other Communications Disorders (National Institutes of Health) to Haskins Laboratories[16].
