Hotel Okura Amsterdam is a five-star hotel in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which includes two restaurants with Michelin stars, the two-star Ciel Bleu and one-star Yamazato.
Location
The hotel is located on the Amstel river, two blocks from the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre.
History
Facilities
It has 300 rooms, including the largest (485m2) and most luxurious suite of the Benelux Countries[citation needed]. There is also a spa.
Dining
There are four restaurants that have all been awarded by Michelin. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant, awarded two Michelin stars[1], is located on the 23rd floor and offers a panoramic view over Amsterdam. Fodors says it is "resolutely for those with chubby pocketbooks and expansive palates".[2] At the Chef’s Table you can get a personal view of the chef and kitchen brigade at work. There are international specialties at the Serre Restaurant – inspired by Ciel Bleu. In summer, it offers a terrace on the Amstel Canal. There are also two Japanese restaurants: the traditional Yamazato Restaurant was awarded one Michelin star and praised for "meticulous and friendly service".[3] In Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka various kinds of fish and meat are prepared a la minute on a hot plate in front of you. Cooking studio Taste of Okura provides instruction in Japanese cookery.
Reviews
Lonely Planet praises its views, restaurants, and spa.[4] Fodors also praises the "dazzling" dining options.[5] Time Out characterises its decor as "very smart" and "masculine", aimed at "captains of industry".[6]
The World Travel Awards awarded it 2010 Netherlands' Leading Business Hotel and 2014 Netherlands' Leading Hotel Suite.[7]
