Nisha Aur Uske Cousins’ is a story that revolves around 7 cousins and the concept "Friends are forever, Cousins are for life!" Set against the backdrop of Jaipur it showcases the unconventional bond among 7 cousins living in a joint family. It is the story of their coming of age, aspirations, coping with expectations, understanding love & loss in their transition from being the ‘kids’ of the family to becoming ‘grown up'. The show starts with the lead, Nisha Gangwal(Aneri Vajani) climbing up the fort wall with her friend Saurav to set up a farewell party for her sister Dolly. The cousins are introduced - Umesh, the oldest amongst the cousins whose passion is cooking, Dolly who loves shopping and is soon about to be married to Sumit, Kirti - a fashionista, Nisha - a tomboy and a daredevil at heart, Suketu - an aspiring actor, Jwala - a loveable geek and Bunty - the youngest among all the cousins and a typical mischief-maker. Their group also includes Saurav, their childhood best friend. The cousins are a part of a joint family of three brothers, their wives and Dada and Dadi. Dadaji is a strict disciplinarian who loves his grandchildren but believes in discipline and traditions, which often becomes the cause of friction between the three generations.
The story starts with cousins trying to sort through all the troubles that crop up during Dolly's wedding (that they inevitably caused) and ensure she gets married to Sumit.[5] It is then known that Sumit has lost his job and he, along with his mom plan to take over the Gangwal business and persists Dolly to speak to her Dadaji about the same. But Dolly stands firm in her decision of not letting Sumit work in the family business but Sumit eventually succeeds in getting into Gangwal's business. Suketu is forced to work in the family business against his wish. Umesh's dream of becoming a chef and opening a restaurant is not supported by the elders and he too is put into the family business. Umesh gets married to Amanpreet after a lot of opposition from the family. Kirti's engagement with Ritesh(an NRI) is called off as he is revealed to be a cheater. Jwala is saved from her pervert tuition teacher by Nisha. It is also seen that Nisha is a victim of attempt to molestation, the reason for her to become a tomboy. Later Nisha gets inspired by Viraj Singh Rathore, a national level shooter and joins his academy and starts to develop feelings for him. But he rejects her when she proposes him. Later, she gets to know abt his painful past through emails sent by her using a anonymous name. Viraj starts to love his email friend but doesnt know that its Nisha. Using this information , Viraj's aunt Gayatri defames Nisha in a Press conference by leaking the emails to Press. Viraj doesnt trust Nisha and this will lead to their break up. Nisha goes on a trip to clear her mind. There she meets Kabir, who is in search of a boy(Viraj) , the reason for him to come to India. Nisha and Kabir get married while saving chandu(a girl they meet on the trip) and later marry again with all rituals for the sake of Nisha's family but they decide to have a contract marriage for 3 months, at the end of which kabir will leave to london for his dream of becoming a choreographer. Viraj tries to stop Nisha and Kabir's wedding as he comes to know abt the truth of press conference and offers to marry her but Nisha refuses him, owing to her self respect and goes on to marry Kabir. But Viraj vows to get Nisha back in his life. Nisha and Kabir try to show the Gangwals that Kabir is a bad person so that no one blames Nisha when Kabir leaves after 3 months but they fail every time and he becomes the hero of the house. Nisha slowly falls in love with Kabir and Kabir also have a soft spot for her, but doesnt realise his love as his only aim is to go to london. The Gangwals entrust Kabir with a huge project but Sumit decides to sabotage him. Sumit uses Viraj in his plan by feeding him lies that Nisha is still in love with him and Kabir is the bad guy who is forcing Nisha to live with him. Kabir and Saurav gets framed for the production of fake jewellery by Sumit and the Gangwal family accuses Kabir of fraud as they come to know abt Contract marriage also. Nisha and kabir along with Saurav, Suketu, Jwala and Bunty decide to clear Kabir's name and expose Sumit.
