You employ stone, wood and concrete, and with these materials you build houses and palaces: that is construction. Ingenuity is at work. But suddenly you touch my heart, you do me good. I am happy and I say: "This is beautiful. That is Architecture. Art enters in......" Le Corbusier, Vers une architecture, 1923

Hello! Are you interested in architecture? Do you think it is important to impart knowledge about architecture? Then we would like to invite you to help us in this Project!

An important note for everyone to remember: This project develops ideas about how we might organize data in articles about architecture. These are only suggestions, things to give you focus and to get you going, and you shouldn't feel obligated in the least to follow them. But if you don't know what to write or where to begin, following the below guidelines may be helpful. Mainly, we just want you to write articles!

Message Board Week commencing July 24, 2006 - Feel free to add anything you think might be of interest.
(Wiped once a week).
1. We now have nominations for article improvement drives - please comment here and feel free to add your own nominations.
2. We have an infant wikiproject- Wikipedia:WikiProject Urban studies and planning
Please feel free to contribute in anyway you can.

Scope

This WikiProject aims to

  1. To thoroughly explore Architecture, buildings, construction, city planning and public space globally and historically.
  2. Improve Architecture, buildings, construction, city planning and public space related articles.
  3. To provide a place to discuss common issues on Architecture, buildings, construction, city planning and public space related pages.
  4. Organise, discuss and categorise Category:Architecture
  5. To ensure all pages meet the standards of Wikipedia:Cite sources. Non-referenced articles seem unprofessional and below the standard of even a high school research paper! See also WikiProject Fact and Reference Check.
  6. Develop standards and templates for Architecture, buildings, construction, city planning and public space related articles.
  7. To manage editing of the Architecture Wikiportal

How to help

How you can help depends on your time, resources and interest. Here are a variety of ideas for contributions ranging from simple to complex:

Articles for deletion

It is important to have an input into Articles for deletion. There is now a special page for Architecture, buildings, construction, city planning and public space articles, which needs to be maintained, updated and monitored. It can be found here: WikiProject Deletion sorting/Architecture, buildings, construction, city planning and public space. Articles need to be added manually: please add any AfD you want to draw attention to, and also put it on your watchlist.

  • Move architecture images to Wikicommons. Suggestion only. Move eligible (world-wide public domain) art images to Wikicommons

    1. {{subst:Architect}} for articles about architects
    2. {{subst:Modern building}} for articles about buildings begun on or after 1900
