Jorge C. Lucero is a full Professor of computer science at the University of Brasília and a scientist whose research focuses on voice and speech production[1]. His research work is best known for the mathematical modeling and analysis of the vocal fold oscillation during phonation[2][3][4][5]. He also has contributed to the functional data analysis of speech movement records and voice signals[6] and to the biomechanical modeling of the face for the computer speech animations[7]. He has published over 100 original research papers in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings, which have received over 800 citations[1].
Lucero graduated in electrical engineering from the National University of Córdoba (Argentina, 1985) with a Diploma for Merits[8]. He was a graduate scholar of the Ministry of Education of Japan and received a Ph.D. (1993) in engineering from Shizuoka University[9]. He was also postdoctoral fellow at both Queen's University[10] and the University of Toronto[11] (1996-1997), associated researcher of the CNRS (France, 2010-2011) and visiting professor at Université Libre de Bruxelles (2012 and 2103-2014)[8].
He is recipient of a research fellowship of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development of Brazil (CNPq) due to scientific productivity[8], and of an award for Excellence in Phonoaudiology from the Brazilian Society of Phonoaudiology (2013)[12]. In addition, he is an international affiliate of Haskins Laboratories[13], and member of the Acoustical Society of America and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
