Helena Little (born 1960 in Hazel Grove) is an English actress who is best known for playing Mary Tomlinson in Casualty and she has also been in The Bill, Boon, Juliet Bravo, Between the Lines, A Touch of Frost, Peak Practice and Dangerfield. She played the lead role in the 1985 Remake of Oscar Wilde's "Lady Windermere's Fan".[1] She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Early life

Helena moved to East Africa as a young girl with her family and went to convent boarding School in Sussex, St Leonards Holy Child of Jesus, at the age of 10. After prep school she moved to the senior wing of the school at The Old Palace, Mayfield, East Sussex. Holidays were spent in Kenya with the family and Helena was an active member of Mombasa Yacht Club. From a very early age Helena declared her intention to pursue a career in acting and in VI form, she headed Caedmon, the school drama society, with an unforgettable production of One Way Pendulum, N.F Simpson. After Mayfield, she went straight to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she graduated in 1981 with the Gold Medal.

Career

Helena trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and began her professional acting career at the Nuffield Theatre Southampton and then moved to the Globe Theatre in the West End.

Drama Coaching

As well as working as a professional actress Helena wanted to encourage young actors and set up red dot drama in order to share her considerable talents with a new generation of budding drama students. Red dot drama offers workshops and group sessions in South London and many of her 'proteges' have gone on to study acting full time. http://reddotdrama.co.uk/

Voice Coaching

Helena is a Classically trained voice coach and can adopt accents from all over the world so is ideally placed to provide voice and accent coaching to clients who wish to improve their spoken English. Helena blogs about voice coaching on her site https://reddotvoice.wordpress.com/ and also offers a series of podcasts (and videos) that offer examples of the techniques employed to speak with an "English" accent.

Design

A love of art in early years has also led to a career as a designer and expert in digital art and she enjoys a reputation as a website designer and News Letters. (Shard Video), Nutrition, Brave design

Politics

As a life long labour supporter Helena is involved in the day to day running of the Wimbledon Labour party in WWH. She puts her considerable talents to good use in preparing interesting news letters for party members as well as organising for the elections.
