Ciklum is a global provider of software engineering and IT consulting services headquartered in Kyiv, Ukraine. The company specializes in IT services and is one of the largest outsourcing, consulting and custom software development providers in Eastern Europe[1][2][3].
The company has software development centers and branch offices in the United States, UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Israel, Spain, Ukraine, Belarus[4], Romania and Pakistan[5].
Existing Ciklum’s clients include JustEat[4], Jabra, Berlingske Media[6][7], LoopMe, MusicQubed, Ideaworks/Marmalade, EFG Bank, Betsson among others[8].
History
Ciklum was founded in 2002[1] by Danish native Torben Majgaard[3], current CEO, in Kyiv, Ukraine. Since then, the company has grown to approximately 2,500 employees[2][9][10], located globally across 10 countries.
In 2003, Ciklum develops its “Client’s Own Team” model; introduces model to the public.
In 2009, Ciklum buys main business activities from Mondo's bankruptcy[11]. Same year, Ciklum acquires a profile group in Pakistan; opens a new delivery center in the same area.
In 2011, Ciklum acquires 50% of SCR Gruppen (Denmark)[12][13].
In 2012, Ciklum strengthens its management team and overall efficiency. Company achieves revenue of more than USD 100 million.
In 2013 Ciklum expands its business development operations to Israel and acquires Danish IT outsourcing provider Kuadriga[14][15].
In 2014, Ciklum becomes Intel Software partner and announces expansion of its global business operations in USA by opening new office on the East Coast, New York[16][17]. Same year, Ciklum opens a new delivery center in Lviv, Ukraine.
March 2014 Ciklum has set out actions the new national government should take to protect the Ukrainian IT industry amid political turmoil. Torben Majgaard, CEO at firm Ciklum, has written a heartfelt letter to Ukraine’s economy minister Pavlo Sheremeta, calling for united action to ensure the IT industry in the country emerges from the turmoil stronger[18].
In April 2014, Ciklum, together with other IT companies operating in Ukraine, initiated the launch of Brain Basket Foundation to fund free trainings for those who wish to study programming. This initiative is aimed at developing Ukraine’s $2 billion IT Industry into Europe’s IT powerhouse generating $10 billion in annual revenue and creating 100,000 jobs by 2020[19][20]. Ciklum has pledged $100,000 to the program[21][22][23].
In 2014, Ciklum launches a [[startup-in-residence program in Ukraine[24].
In 2015, Ciklum expands expands its development locations within Central and Eastern Europe with a new development center in Romania[25]. Company also opens a second representative office in USA, Boston.
Rankings and Recognition
Ciklum is recognized as CeBIT 2010 Top 20 innovative company delivering services/products for small and medium sized companies, and named the 2010[26], 2011[27] and 2012 Top 100 Global Services provider.
20 May 2013 – Gartner Inc. named Ciklum as a “Cool Vendor” in its ‘Cool Vendors in Application Services, 2013’ report[28]. The title is granted to only five companies in the category by the leading information and technology research and advisory company.
In 2015, Ciklum ranked 5th in the Top 25 Largest IT Companies in Ukraine[29].
