WBZ is the callsign for a television station and an AM radio station in Boston, Massachusetts, both owned by Viacom.
WBZ radio, which broadcasts at 1030 kHz, was the first radio station in New England, starting in 1921. It currently runs an all-news format, with popular hosts like Gary Lapierre in the morning and conservative talk show host David Brudnoy at night. It is the most listened-to radio station in the Boston area, and covers much of the eastern United States at night with its 50,000-watt signal. Its transmitter is located in Hull, Massachusetts.
Its signal is highly directional to protect first adjacent WHO 1040 am in Des Moines, and KDKA 1020 am in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
