The CDC ref http://www.cdc.gov/getsmart/campaign-materials/info-sheets/adult-acute-pharyngitis.html is dealing only with healthy adults and not addressing kids. Thus changes the page to reflect this. Okay found it. Yes the IDSA does not recommend empiric treatment in anyone (in the USA of course). Where rheumatic fever is the most common cause of aquired heart disease their however may still be different opinions. Many thanks for bringing this forwards.
