Guy Reese (September 22, 1939 – November 22, 2010) was a professional American football player who played defensive lineman for five seasons for the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Colts, and Atlanta Falcons. He played college football at Southern Methodist University.

Professional career

Dallas Cowboys

Reese was selected in the 15th round (200th overall) of the 1962 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and in the 11th round (83rd overall) of the 1962 AFL Draft by the Dallas Texans. He opted to sign with the Cowboys and as a rookie he was named the starter at left defensive tackle.

On July 12, 1964, he was traded to the Baltimore Colts in exchange for Jim Colvin.[1]

Baltimore Colts

With the Baltimore Colts he was as a reserve defensive tackle during two seasons.[2]

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons selected him from the Colts roster in the 1966 NFL Expansion Draft. He was named the starter at left defensive tackle, but suffered a knee injury in the second game against the Philadelphia Eagles and was lost for the year.[3] It turned out to be a career-ending injury that forced him to retire after the 1966 season.[4]

Personal life

Reese was a real estate appraiser for over 30 years. On November 22, 2010, he died of cancer.
