Compromise proposal on Template:Suicide

I have a possible solution to the dispute on Template talk:Suicide#Compromise proposal. When you have time, take a look at it and note your possible assent or not in the appropriate section. Thanks! — Phil Welch 22:38, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Philwelch's RfA

Hey, thanks for your help with Template:Suicide, as well as supporting my RfA! See you around. — Phil Welch 03:24, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. And congratulations for becoming an admin. --Zoz 16:09, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Baba Yetu

The delete votes were unsigned, so they don't count. The deletion was probably a bit too hasty, but the overall sockpuppetry convinced me that it must be deleted. I have since then played Civ4, and the song is so cheesy, I had to turn off sound :) I'm also not convinced that it's not non-notable anymore. I think the solution is to merge the article into Civ4 article, which I'll do just now.  Grue  19:22, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you can add yourself to the above category, if you wish. Adam78 22:11, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hello,

I've restored the gallery at the Transylvania article as all the images exist and at least I am able to see them. It happens from time to time that the images are not shown due to overloading of the image servers. Also I reverted the links towards the names at the images captions because they are already existent in the text and the MoS (Manual of Style) tries to avoid multiple links towards the same article. Thx. Mihai -talk 20:27, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
Sorry, I thought those images didn't exist (as I wrote in my summary).
However I think the links under the images could be useful for quick navigation - say you see the picture of Iuliu Maniu and would like to check his article but you'd have to find his link in the text - not a good idea I think. On the other hand, I removed multiple links to "writer" from the culture section (according to the MoS), but you reverted my whole edit.
So if you don't mind I'll revert it to my final version and restore the gallery manually.
Anyway, thanks for dropping me a line. --Zoz (t) 21:01, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help with a translation?

You note that you're a native speaker of Hungarian. Could you check out Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images#15 May (at the bottom) and help with a translation? The uploader of an image says that a specific passage of Hungarian law releases all works of the Hungarian government into the public domain, and while I found the Hungarian law, we could use a few opinions from Hungarian speakers on what the law says. Thanks. —Simetrical (talk • contribs) 21:17, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Adminship
Thank you for supporting/objecting/tropicanising me in my request for Adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a final vote count of 14/27/12, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was pleasantly suprised at the support, and was touched by it. I will also work harder on preventing disputes and boosting my edit count (which is on the up), so thank you to all your objectors. Hopefully I will re-apply soon and try again for the mop. Thanks again, Highway Rainbow Sneakers

A haiku of thanks

Thanks for your support
In my RfA, which passed!
Wise I'll try to be.

I'm honored that you already thought I was an admin! :) Thanks again.

My RfA

Thank you for voting in my recently unsuccessful RfA. I plan on working harder in the coming months so that I have a better chance of becoming an admin in the future. I hope you will consider supporting my if I have another RfA. Thank you for your comments. --digital_me(t/c) 15:58, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not gonna re-revert, cause god knows I don't want an edit war. However, here's my justification for including it: Looking at the numerous "What's your favorite thing to do in an LD" threads at LD4ALL, about 80% list sex as something they like to do. Probably 10% say that they would have sex in LDs, but they can't. I will admit that sex is hard, but it's the focus of many LDs for many people. Most things in LDs can happen in ordinary dreams, like supernatural acts, spirit guides (just not lucid), and many other things. I think that sex in an LD is sufficently enhanced by the fact that you're in an LD to included on the list.--digital_me(TalkˑContribs) 19:13, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, fair enough. I guess it's already in the wikibook, so it will stay out of the article.--digital_me(TalkˑContribs) 21:30, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your nice comments on the Portal's talk page. I hope you help us, proposing articles and pictures to be selected, updating the "to do" box or the "did you know". Feel free to make any suggestions you want! Thanks! Afonso Silva 18:30, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sufism/Controversy and debate

Thanks Zoz. A person moderating our "debate" actually created that page. I think we'll distill an article out of the stuff on the talk pages once we get somewhere. --Nkv 05:13, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks

Cliché support? I'm honoured. Thank you very much for that on my recent RfA, which I'm quite happy to announce has passed with a consensus of 67 supporting, 0 opposed and 0 neutral. I'm glad you took the time to consider my candidacy, and I'll be working hard to justify the vote of confidence you've placed in me. Let me know at my talk page if I can help you with any admin-related tasks, or simply if you have any comments on my performance as an admin. Thanks! TheProject 01:54, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking

My bad. Sorry, I never had to do that before. I figured it was a little odd to redirect "World of Starcraft" to that April Fools Day page since the description of the World of Starcraft prank seems to have vanished. I'll keep that in mind next time, thanks. Master Deusoma 17:53, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks for catching the blank redirect. Hany Ramzy actor does exist. You'll find his name in the list of famous Egyptian actors. I removed the redirect to the footballer Hany Ramzy and intended to start a new stub on the actor in its place asap. However, now i think i should have proposed it for deletion as you did till i actually start the new article. Thanks for the notice.--Wedian 18:48, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just want you to know

The reason I deleted the article was because it was spelled wrong (the word Jonathan was spelled wrong) and I created a new article. Thief Lord 17:06, 2 July 2006 (UTC) P.S. If you dont like it you can change it back[reply]

User linking in Static Line

Just to clear things up, I didn't link myself in Static Line; User:Coplan did. I wasn't sure whether this was appropriate either, and I'd have removed the links myself if I had been sure about it since it's linking to another namespace anyway. In any case, I removed the link to Ciaran Hamilton because I'm not notable. (Yet... but I still plan to take over the world at some point. Mwahahahaha!) --Ciaran H 11:29, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks. --Zoz (t) 10:24, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Current Events Redesign

I really don't like the gray title bars. I suggest changing them to blue. --Zoz (t) 12:35, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I like the blue better than the grey as well, but the problem is that there are links on top of most of the title bars. And so (dark) blue on (light) blue may not sit well with some. joturner 12:40, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would have loved to give the translator credit in the Ben oil article. Any way to do that without violating WP practice any policy? Waitak 11:45, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zoz, Thanks for recovering that material of mine. I'm just getting up to speed on Wikipedia, and will take more care in future not to leave stuff like that — intended as practice — lying around. --Chris 14:38, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help in Donnie Darko

Hey Zoz, I noticed you've contributed many times to the article, and I would love for your help in establishing it as a... good one, ha. anyways, please refer to the talk page where Im trying to come up with an organization scheme, anything would be helpful. I'm a bit new, so advice on setting up a scheme to organize would be cool too. Thank you very much. Somerset219 02:30, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blanked Pages

I noticed that you restored several blanked pages and then prod'd them as "blanked by creator but other people had edited them". I think this is a good approach for most of these cases. However, I'd suggest that you also give a quick glance at the contributor's other contributions. I have seen many occasions were an author does a cut-n-paste move and then blanks the original. In those cases, simply redirecting them is the easiest and quickest solution (and sometimes required for GFDL compliance if there were other editors). I redirected Abd El Rahman Shokry to Abd Al-Rahman Shokry and Ralph Middleton Munroe to Ralph Munroe. If you disagree with either of those, either let me know so we can discuss or nominate them for deletion. Also, let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. -- JLaTondre 16:30, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Most times it's a single author so it doesn't really matter. -- JLaTondre 20:31, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: RfD transwiki

That's ok, and I'm sorry if my comment was rather sharp. I just find this deletion of cross-namespace redirects semi-automatically rather unnecessary and unhelpful. "Per avoid cross-namespace redirects" is actually a rather weak approach; it relies on WP:ASR which is nothing stronger than a style guideline. I can understand deletion/redirection of those that sit on viable article names, or which could cause confusion if someone searched for the term and got bounced into Wikipedia: space (or wherever), but with things like e.g. Articles for deletion, if someone, a reader perhaps confused by this 'orrible blue box, types that into search, they are explicitly hoping for what such a redirect does rather than finding themselves confused by it. An opposite example is original research which might well get typed in for searching purposes other than to find WP:NOR. In short, I think some judgement must be exercised before trying to delete such redirects. Not all of them are solely useful to editors. -Splash - tk 14:09, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I want to get involved

Hello,

I want to get involved in the cleanup processes and spend my time helping Wikipedia. I noticed you are involved in Wikipedia:Redirects_for_deletion section regularly. I don't know if I have to be an Admin to participate there or not. (Wikipedia:Cleaning_department page simply notes that volunteers list themselves here for a particular day in the month and pledge to help with the cleaning of a page on that day. It doesn't state if they have to be Admins or not.)

Please advise.

Roleplay_online

only 2 of the wingedmonkeys(rpol site admins) are involved in the wiki. Those are linked to their wiki username so it can be seen. I am reverting back, please do not remove these links again. C.B 23:35, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless, it has been used against the admins in the past that they do not declare they work on the wiki or something like that. That is why we made it clear they have wiki accounts and work on it. We wanted something simple, discrete yet visible. You got any better ideas?C.B 16:51, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Descartes’ life

In answer to your query: The Wikipedia page Descartes’ life should be removed. It was published inadvertently. The set of pages is not yet ready for the Main encyclopedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Goclenius (talkcontribs) 08:51, 13 July 2006.

Subst'ing AfC templates

Thanks so much for your recent edits subst'ing the WP:AFC templates! Those pages are really template-heavy, so making sure the templates are all subst'ed should really lighten the server load. But could you please consider modifying your process so that it doesn't subst {{afc maybe}} and {{afc moretodo}}? Those templates are designed to temporarily mark problem spots, and to be removed once the problem is solved (unlike the other AfC templates, which are intended to be permanent); and subst'ing their code makes it more confusing for people to remove them. I'll watch this page for a reply. Thanks again! Kickaha Ota 19:59, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well I was thinking about whether to subst {{afc maybe}} and {{afc moretodo}} but since they both contain <!-- text --> marking their start and end it seems that those templates were designed to be subst'ed. See the templates: "Beginning of template afc-maybe code -- please remove this code after handling the AfC"; "End of template afc-maybe code -- please remove this code after handling the AfC". Same thing with Template:Afc moretodo. So I think it's not bad to subst those templates too because they can be easily removed even if they were subst'ed. --Zoz (t) 20:10, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As the designer, I can tell you that they weren't so much "designed to be subst'ed" as "designed to be recoverable if somebody inadvertently subst's them." :) But I would certainly much rather have you subst them all then not subst any of them, so I won't raise a fuss. Kickaha Ota 20:24, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Edit conflict: I've just typed: "Correct me if I'm wrong or if I overlooked something." :D
Sorry about it, then. By the way, I would've designed them to be subst'ed:) so after checking the meta-comment of the template I was fairly confident that they were intended to be. And since it categorizes the page under Category:Wikipedia article creation requests needing further review (so these problematic requests can be tracked down) and the meta-comment separates the subst'ed template from the rest of the page I saw no reason not to subst them. But I do understand the advantages of not substing them so I modified my AWB accordingly. --Zoz (t) 21:00, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! And keep up the good work! Kickaha Ota 21:09, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cross-namespace redirects

You are receiving this message because you previously voiced your opinion on a Redirects for deletion of a cross-namespace redirect that was originally deleted but then went to Deletion review and was then relisted at RFD. This is a courtesy notice so you are aware that the issue is being discussed again and is not an endorsement of any position. --Cyde↔Weys 13:24, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
