Chris Kilmore (born 21 January 1973) is an American DJ. He is the turntablist and keyboardist of the rock band Incubus.
Early History
Chris Kilmore was raised outside of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania by an adoptive family. He was first introduced to 'spinning records' when he saw "Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince" perform live. He bought his first turntable after getting a job at a Fast-food restaurant, and his father bought him a matching counterpart.
As an adult, Kilmore relocated to LA with the intention of building up a musical career. After performing as a DJ at local LA clubs, Kilmore later joined a DJ battle crew, the Jedi Knights (Kilmore is a Star Wars fan).
Incubus career
Kilmore joined the band while they were in the process of writing and recording their second full length major label album, Make Yourself. Kilmore acted as turntablist on this album, as well as on their next two albums, Morning View and A Crow Left of the Murder....
Kilmore's duties with the band increased with the release of Light Grenades by Incubus - on this record he is credited for playing the "Turntables, Hammond B3, Moog Voyager, Rhodes, Mellotron, Piano, Marxophone, and Theremin."
Kilmore is also a graduate of The George Washington University, Class of 1995.
Other
Kilmore did a guest appearance on Primer 55's debut album Introduction To Mayhem
He is often incorrectly listed as having done a remix of Dave Matthews Band's "Crash Into Me" but this is due to file mislabelling in the early days of Napster. A search of the DMB tour databases at www.dmbalmanac.com and www.antsmarching.org shows that Chris Kilmore never performed with Dave Matthews Band. The remix in question was actually done by DJ 2nd Nature and was available as a download from his site until 2005.
