Herndon is located on the southern border of Christian county, Kentucky. Just north of Fort Campbell, the small farming community thrives as a hub for education, agriculture, and leisure. Near the town center is South Christian Elementary school, which provides k - 5 education services for Herndon, Gracey, and northern Oak Grove. Also at the center of town is Herndon Volunteer Fire Department.
