This article was mentioned on the television show The Colbert Report. Wed. Aug 2, 2006 on Comedy Central. He jokingly suggested that Latchkey kids grow up to be serial killers and referenced this page at which point hundreds of viewers pointed their browsers to this page, some with the purpose of changing the entry to fit his argument.

i'd like to see a little more of the positive side to latchkey children. i was always one, and reading this makes it seem like my mother was a terrible person and my childhood was screwed. i turned out just fine, with none of these negative effects. balance people, balance. More bizzarely, it was then reverted by someone who somehow *knew* it was "Colbert-related". A wiki editor attended the taping, perhaps?

Shouldnt someone revert to a prevandalism page because its locked and it has the Colbert "fact". I'm for putting a small section in the article mentioning the "fact" in retaionaltion to the colbert Report. That way every one should be happy.

And good - Colbert's having fun, yeah, but sometimes the Colbert Nation can't go a bit too far. At least watching for potential references on the Colbert Report isn't painful. It's a great show. God bless Stephen Colbert.

I love the Colbert Report as much as anyone, but it's starting to annoy me how he stokes the flames of "everything on wikipedia is wildly, almost comically 'inaccurate'", an idea that seems to be blinding swallowed by everyone over thirty.

Statistics clearly show that latchkey kids are far more likely than regular kids to become axe murderers.

Unbalanced

Aside from the Colbert Report vandalization (you should also check "latchkey"), this page seems unbalanced. I think it casts so called "latchkey kids" in a negative light which is not merited.

Someone is vandalizing the talk page by adding the word "NOT" in people's sentences. Can someone go through and remove all the capitalized NOTs on this page?
