WSNE is a southern New England Hot Adult Contemporary radio station licensed to Taunton, Massachusetts & has its offices & studios in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. It broadcasts on 93.3 (MHz) and serves the Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts area. The station carries the Delilah show at night, which airs music softer than what is heard the rest of the day. It is today known as "93.3 Coast FM"

History

WSNE signed on in 1966 as WRLM, named for original owner Robert L. McCarthy and programming a middle of the road format in monoaural as well as broadcasting local news and high-school sports for Taunton and vicinity. During the 1970's, WRLM adopted an adult contemporary format and went stereo in 1976.

In 1980, McCarthy sold WRLM to the Outlet Company, the then owners of WJAR-TV in Providence. While the AC format was maintained, the call letters were changed to WSNE and several high-profile Providence personalities joined the station's staff. Studios were moved to Providence and the transmitter was moved to Rehobeth, Massachusetts, improving the station's signal. Eventually, the station fell into the hands of SFX Broadcasting, and after mergers placing the station with Capstar and AMFM, WSNE became part of Clear Channel in 2000.

The station's best-known local personality is longtime morning hostess Joannie Edwardsen. She's not the only member of her family who can be heard on WSNE; her husband Chuck Hinman does news updates during her show.

WSNE HD2

On April 25, 2006, Clear Channel announced that WSNE's HD2 subchannel will carry a format focusing on Dance and Disco hits.
