Newark, NJ’s hometown girl, Shariese Katrell, has been singing since the age of six. Music has always been very important and has helped her through many difficult times including bouts with epilepsy. Shariese’s condition was diagnosed a year after high school. From then on life started to change. She had to drop out of college because she would pass out in class. She felt trapped in her house like a prisoner, having up to seven seizures a day worrying that no one could help her. Shariese underwent brain surgery in 2008 and things began to change. Shariese returned to school and finished college. Day-by-day she started to get her life back, healing through music. “I’m determined to have the world know my story and inspire others like me. I mean… my music saved my life! Music heals and people need healing now more than ever. This is my way of giving back… through my music, to inspire… to share my story… to heal others.” More: You can find out more about Shariese’s story here: http://www.facebook.com/shariesekatrell http://rockethub.com/projects/680-shariese-katrell-shades-of-determination https://soundcloud.com/shariese-katrell
