Regarding the changes to Bharat Ratna
Why have you removed the images I have added to in the list of recipients of Bharat Ratna? They are licensed under fair use from Wikimedia:Commons Krishna Chaitanya Velaga(Indian) Talk 08:36, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- See WP:NFCC for information about fair use. These images are not on Commons, these are non-free images uploaded here. —SpacemanSpiff 12:17, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
Hello
I have left a message on India Talk page regarding images for Ancient India, Medieval India, and early modern India, please do consider it as these image edits will be in good faith. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pebble101 (talk • contribs) 17:42, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
- I have already supported increasing the number of geo pics in rotation, but most of the other pics you've posted are duplicates. I'm also having trouble with my internet connection right now, so it's taking me a long time to see anything, so any further comments will have to be later when this trouble of mine is solved. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 17:46, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your replay. There are no duplicates of Rock-cut Buddhist Art, Mauryan Empire pillars or emblem. As far as Bodhi Temple and Golden Temple i can move those images to Medieval and early modern era respectively, would that be okay? These edits will be in good faith as it will showcase best of India's cultural evolution over time. It would also be good to have some change in these sections as not much images has been changed since the page was created.
Right now, I would only prefer to edit images in period section, we can furter discuss about Geo & Bio some other time. Please do let me know if i'm allowed to do so. Thank You.small>— Preceding unsigned comment added by Pebble101 (talk • contribs)
- Please don't do that. Like I've mentioned, the images have been chosen for a reason and we can not and should not let personal choices affect that as it would mean that the article will see no end of it. The images are also placed in those sections based on relevance. A better quality Ajanta image is already included, the only thing is the Mauryan pillar and clearly the quality of images on that is quite lacking. The article is a featured article and all images included have been reviewed stringently, most of them are either Featured Pictures or of comparable quality. Please wait for other people to chime in, there's no reason to rush things based on personal preference. —SpacemanSpiff 18:12, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your quick reply. I understand your views regrading unnecessary edits. It's a downer that compared to others, our nations wiki page has failed to showcase best of our civilization in history sections. The images i have proposed is based on relevance of each period and their influence on all aspects of Indian civilization as whole. I do remember that image of rock-cut Buddhist architecture i have proposed was Featured Picture, I should be able to change the current low quality faded painting of Ajanta with Ajanta architecture then? If not then, what can be done to have some changes on this page? please do let me know, Thank you again for your quick reply! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pebble101 (talk • contribs) 18:51, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
Hello, SpacemanSpiff, would it be good to add voting process regrading images for Ancient India section? If so then do let me know how this process works — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pebble101 (talk • contribs) 17:07, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- Pebble101, you don't have to link my name on my own talk page as I will get an automatic notification on posts here. Also, while on other pages it's better to use {{U|Username}} than copying the signature, but make sure that you sign your name at the end of the post, in the same edit, using ~~~~ or the notifications will not go. On the question of a poll, this format you have set up currently seems fine, if there is a bigger choice pool to be introduced, at that time we can just have a gallery and a separate area for people to express their opinions. I'm guessing you are still looking for better quality pictures? But be aware, this process can and should take a while, the last time we chose pictures for the article, it took about two months of discussions to settle on the current lot, so any change will likely not happen overnight in this case. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 17:18, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your informative reply, I have tried to find more quality images of Sanchi Stupa but it's limited and i have picked the best ones i could find from this period, which is good representation of architectural style from ancient India. Pebble101 (talk) 19:36, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Caste catergorisation
Hi, I know that there is a long-standing consensus we do do not categorise people by caste (User:Sitush/Common#Castecats) and that you have been quite heavily involved in some of the CfDs concerning that. I've never fully understood why we do not do it, other than the potential for BLP problems, and periodically I wonder why it is we still categorise people as Dalit, given that it is effectively the fifth "caste". Any ideas? - Sitush (talk) 08:03, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- Eh? "do do" has a different meaning, if my recollection of George Bush is correct. Struck and replaced - sorry about that. - Sitush (talk) 08:39, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- The caste categorization consensus pre-dates my time on Wikipedia -- it was already consensus before I started editing, so I haven't been involved in actually discussing it, just enforcing that consensus. utcursch might be able to help on that I think as he's participated in the relevant discussion. —SpacemanSpiff 08:44, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- So it was probably determined on Day One ;) I'll see if utcursch responds to your ping, thanks. - Sitush (talk) 08:47, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- I don't remember if there was consensus on categorization of people in the "Dalit" category. But I'd say the categorization should be limited to Category:Dalit activists (if the person is notable for social activism involving Dalit issues) or Category:Dalit leaders (if the person is involved in Dalit-centered politics). utcursch | talk 14:50, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I can't see consensus in the original discussion that SS linked but we seem to have spawned a lot more Dalit categories since that time. Hypothetically, would those in Category:Dalit writers, for example, qualify for recategorisation as Category:Dalit activists? - Sitush (talk) 14:54, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for that but can you talk to User:Marchoctober about these edits? That desynop argument is related to an entirely different article and a different set of editors who hate me. You can look under the collapse section at Talk:List_of_highest-grossing_Indian_films#Section_break which is why I'm presuming it's an attempt to attack me further. For him, it's a WP:ROPE situation at this point. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:56, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- I've given an ARBIPA warning for now as it is quite appropriate given the behavior I've noticed. I see that NeilN is adminning the page and is monitoring all activity, so I'll defer to his judgment on anything here (also since he's on more than I am!) —SpacemanSpiff 14:46, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm just about to go away for a few days so another pair of admin eyes on that talk page would be helpful. Ciao! --NeilN talk to me 15:03, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

Lesser known temples of the Hoysala Empire
Lesser known temples of the Hoysala Empire seems to be an article that transcludes a navbox template and says little else. I've never seen this done before and I'm not sure of the merits. Thoughts? - Sitush (talk) 14:45, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- I think it might fail NLIST, but I rarely pay attention to these. Though it looks odd in its current form, at least it should be converted to a functional list like bibliographies etc. Perhaps a merge of the "better known" and the "lesser known" might be in order. —SpacemanSpiff 15:08, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
