Aber Valley is a Valleycommunity in [[Mid Glamorgan], Wales. It is located in South East Wales has two main communities - Abertridwr and Senghenydd which grew around the mining industry in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.Senghenydd having a longer history than abertridwr, senghenydd was once a cantref or hundred which spanned a greater distance than its modern boundaries encompassing quite a few of the nearby villages retaining a deal of autonomy throughout foreign rule.

The Aber Valley Heritage Group have established a Heritage Museum situated within Senghenydd Community Centre in order to commemorate the scene of the largest mining disaster in British history: the 1913 Senghenydd Colliery Disaster when 439 miners lost their lives.[1] The Aber Valley Male Voice Choir was created in 1959.[2]
