Wumengosaurus is an aquatic reptile from the Middle Triassic Guanling Formation of China. Originally described as a basal eosauropterygian, and usually recovered as such by recent phylogenetic analyses[1][2][3], one recent phylogeny has placed it as the sister taxon to the Hupehsuchidae + Ichthyopterygia clade while refraining from a formal re-positioning.[4]
