The University of Bath, established in 1966, has grown into one of the United Kingdom's leading universities, ranking consistently as one of the top 10 universities in major UK league tables.

The main campus is located in a purpose-built development in Claverton Down, two kilometres from the United Nations designated World Heritage City of Bath. The University's major academic strengths are the physical sciences and technology, but the university is becoming increasingly strong in management, humanities and social sciences. In addition, the University is host to a number of UK's top Olympic athletes.

Recently, the University of Bath is developing a new campus in Swindon, and work on additional is underway on developing the sports facilities here into the English Institute of Sport for South West England.
