Antenna 3, former known as "Antenna 3 Lombardia" or "Antennatre" is a private tv station. It was founded in 1977 and led by Enzo Tortora a famous italian showman, and his best friend Renzo Villa, a simply clerck of the municipality of Varese, who became a self made man tv publisher. It was one of the first italian private tv station, born after the end of the state monopoly on television broadcasting, brought by the little tv station Telebiella. Among almost 1500 private tv station born in that years in Italy, Antennatre, was, that time, the biggest one, with one of the most modern broadcasting center in Europe, and the biggest tv studio, the so-called "Studio 1".It was established in Legnano a small town in the suburbs of Milano, close to Malpensa airport. A lot of very famous italian tv showman worked or started their carreer at Antennatre such as Ettore Andenna,Massimo Boldi and Teo Teocoli, Amanda Lear,Renato Rascel,Giorgio Faletti and Walter Chiari. Cino Tortorella worked at Antenna3 as director and author. Other important italian television directors, such as Beppe Recchia and Paolo Beldì worked in Antenna3 too. The owner of the television himself, Renzo Villa, was one of the anchorman of the tv too. A lot of famous technicians and managers of italian television, started their career working for Antenna3. The italian songwriter Roberto Vecchioni, who was graduated in classical literature and was a Teacher in High Schools, conducted a show in the afternoon where helped "live" students doing their homework, such as translations from latin and ancient greek.
In 1987 Antenna 3, owned by the founder Renzo Villa, changed ownership.
Still existing today, although less important that in the past, from 2004, belongs to Telelombardia.
After the death of the founder Renzo Villa, died in 2010, some of his previous employees, and some of his friends founded a Charity Association.
