Shailendra is a Sanskrit combined words Śaila and Indra, meaning "King of the Mountain",[1] It is often used as an epithet of the Hindu god Shiva.

Details of Name: The boy's name Shailendra (shail-indra, shail-indra\ is pronounced SHAIL-in-dra) It is of Indian origin word lord Shiva, and its meaning is "Lord(Sire) of the mountains: the Himalayas". The older form shail-indra has been replaced by Shailendra, which became popular in India and whole world from the begining of world. The word "shailendra" is also used as an affectionate term for a good( king) boy. shailen is the real form; shalend - shailendra is the Indian Hindu version. It is commonly used as a male given name in the Indian subcontinent.
