Live from Madison Square Garden is an upcoming professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It will take place on October 3, 2015 and will air exclusively on the WWE Network. The event is hailed as a part of Brock Lesnar's Go To Hell Tour and his return to Madison Square Garden in his first match in the arena since his original departure from the company in 2004.
Background
The show will feature professional wrestling matches that involve wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines that play out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes (faces) or villains (heels) as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.[1][2]
The main event will feature Brock Lesnar in a match with The Big Show. Lesnar previously faced Show at the 2014 Royal Rumble.
At WrestleMania 31, John Cena became United States Champion, defeating Rusev. On the July 27 episode of Raw, Cena challenged Seth Rollins to a match for Rollins' WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which The Authority instead made for Cena's United States Championship. Cena won the match by submission, during which Rollins legitimately broke Cena's nose.[3] Rollins then challenged Cena to a Title vs. Title match at SummerSlam; Cena accepted, but Rollins won when guest host Jon Stewart interfered on Rollins' behalf.[4] At Night of Champions, Cena defeated Rollins for the title.[5]
Dolph Ziggler and Rusev have had an ongoing feud since May, stemming from Ziggler forming a romantic relationship with Lana, Rusev's former valet. The two fought to a double countout at SummerSlam.[4] In a rematch on the August 31 episode of Raw, Ziggler won by disqualification following the interference of Rusev's new girlfriend, Summer Rae.[6] Ziggler defeated Rusev at Night of Champions.[5]
