The uprising against the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad gradually turned into a full-scale civil war.[1] Two significant milestones were the initial March 2011 Arab Spring protests and the 15 July 2012 declaration by the International Committee of the Red Cross that the fighting had gradually become so widespread that the situation should be regarded as a civil war.[2]

It has been 13 years, 9 months, 2 weeks and 6 days since the Syrian Day of Rage protests staged on 15 March 2011.[1]

It has been 12 years, 5 months, 2 weeks and 6 days since the Red Cross declared the situation to be a civil war.[3]
