Delete call on Agoda.com AFD discussion

Hi there. I don't understand your call to delete the Agoda.com page. The reasons you stated on the AFD discussion are not aligned with the reasons for deletion according to Wikipedia:Deletion policy. Could you kindly elaborate further? Agoda.com is a household name in Southeast Asia, used by tens of thousands of people every day. Such a service warrants an encyclopedic entry. Please feel free to discuss the points I had stated on the AFD discussion. Thank you! Asheshong (talk) 03:28, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nucleus page Nomination

Hello SwisterTwister I dont understand on what basis u have added a deletion nomination to the page Nucleus Premium Properties Private ltd. Nucleus is a very famous builder in South India and has got lot of newslinks associated with them and prominent name in Construction Industry . May i know what are the flaws in the page .

Thanks . Hello SwisterTwister I am confused as to why my submission Mike Stanley Filmmaker was declined. You note that it should have news and magazine coverage. This article does have news and magazine coverage. There was reference made to a Fox 2 News interview and a Best Picture show interview. As for magazine coverage there is mention of three magazines in references, Cinemagic, Fangoria and B's Nest. B's Nest contains an interview with Mr. Stanley. These were all obtained from an archive page which also contains news articles on Mr. Stanley for a span of a period of nine years at: http://filmlabshowcase.wix.com/filmlab#!news-articles/c14xp I have also included more recent web posts on Mr. Stanley. His career spans 30 years. I believe there is more than enough to show he is notable. Thank you. Indiefanatic Indiefanatic (talk) 18:52, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Indiefanatic Yes but it will need better coverage (to at least satisfy WP:GNG) as I mentioned at the draft page. SwisterTwister talk 19:31, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Law Society of Ireland page

Hi again. Sorry to bother you but you mentioned on 10th December that you might be able to help to improve the Law Society of Ireland page? Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Chuck Loeb, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Hitch, The Untouchables and Jim Hall (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hello SwisterTwister. You recently tagged a page that I have been trying to create as potentially self-promoting. It was the page David Rubenstein (attorney). If you don't mind, could you give me a few suggestions on how to make this article less subject to deletion? I am new to wikipedia, so I am unsure of exactly how many sources/what tone of language I need to be using to avoid these issues. Thank you in advance for your help. Regarding speedy deletion nomination on 1oth September:

Hello SwisterTwister, This is Maruf. I just got a notification for speedy deletion for some reason. I am entirely a new user and is not understanding the cause of this alert. I have already read the general criteria for speedy deletion and spam but it is still not clear to me which words, links or point I need to delete. I had no intention of ambiguous promotion of my company. I am just putting my company's info in Wikipedia and want to be listed by it. If you please see my writing again, be more precise about my faults and suggest me what should I change, it would be so kind of you.

I look forward to your quick reply.

Regarding speedy deletion nomination for JAFRA Cosmetics

Hello SwisterTwister, I'm new to Wikipedia and would like a chance to rewrite my article about JAFRA Cosmetics. I did not mean to create the article as promotional material and was only hoping to create a Wikipedia entry for the company. I have revised my references and edited the text to conform to the NPOV. Please let me know if it's possible to restore the page. Thanks! - Eternalstyle (talk) 18:56, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to recreate the article, you'll need to show it's notable meaning it has received significant third-party coverage from newspapers and magazines that talk about the company in-depth. Also, details such as the mission statement, usage of "we", "our" and "us" may be appropriate on the company's own website but not here as that sounds promotional and suggests ownership. Rather than adding it yourself, consider using Wikipedia:Articles for creation where a user such as myself can review it beforehand. Cheers! SwisterTwister talk 04:48, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Back in September

You asked me about the removal of some material you added to Tajja Isen. In general I don't really like too much family background here except for figures of historical importance, but the exception is when it's relevant, but the musical family background of a musician is relevant. I'm not sure the no. of siblings etc. But the amount you had there is usually within the amount that is always OK. DGG ( talk ) 18:47, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re Edith Hirsch

Hi--yes, I believe notability is shown. An obituary in the NY Times, like one of my main sources, has been shown in a few AfDs to be a pretty good indicator of notability. Also, the multiple mentions in RS newspapers count, I think. But thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Origamite 05:44, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NPEOPLE: Multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability, which I did somewhat in the "Published" section. However, if you don't think that's right, it's my first article, which is why I put it up at AfC, even after 3,000 edits. Origamite 05:47, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I highly agree but I don't see much of a solid article with that information. If she had participated in a highly reported incident or other news-worthy event or won any notable awards, that would be something different. Cheers! SwisterTwister talk 05:55, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I'm confused regarding my references. The references listed are reputable in the virtual reality world, just like Road & Track would be for cars. I agree that the article could be longer. As far as the significance of the Infinadeck, I assume you may not be familiar with locomotion in the virtual world. There are two products currently out there, e.g. the Virtuix Omni, but none are mechanical. That is what makes the Infinadeck notable. Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regarding New Article "Yasmina" by Yasmina Fan

Hello Swister twister, thanks for reviewing my article. I reviewed Criteria for Musicians Notability on this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(music) Parts which I think are enough for Notability. -point number 4 in Notability was "Has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country". I have added references that mentioned Yasmina's participation in many national concerts in Egypt. -point number 6 was " is a musician who has been a reasonably prominent member of two or more independently notable ensembles " I have added references that mentioned Yasmina has been a member of 2 known Ensembles in Egypt.-point number 8 is "Has won or been nominated for a major music award" Yasmina received a music award from Egyptian Minister of Culture,is this prize not major enough? -point number 9 was "Has won or placed in a major music competition." Yasmina has participated in Arabs got talent Competition , while this competition is not only for musicians , its probably the biggest "Got Talent" spin off as it includes participants from 22 countries , and Yasmina was the only singer or musician to reach the final , effectively beating all others including Nadia Azzi who already has a wikipedia page. -point number 10 was "Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show" I put link to her performances in 2 TV shows (She performed 3 songs in each show). Please give me feedback are all these points not enough for Notability ? Thanks.

Thanks for your comments.

As far as I can see Friday Brown does meets the music 'notability' requirements of Wikipedia by winning international singing competitions and her television work: I’ve also indicated the period over which she was active. I used the phrase 'Friday Brown is' because she's still alive, rather than active. I suppose saying 'popular music singer-songwriter' could be confusing, but that was the arena in which she worked, popular music. It wasn’t intended to indicate her degree of popularity.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Hello SwisterTwister,

I am trying to figure out why this would be marked for deletion. In all things new such as the speed for technology today we will see changes in traditional concepts and new ones evolving.

The internet-of-things will impact and change business models and one of the most important going forward will be protecting digital data assets. Traditional recordkeeping and library, archive methodologies for 'preservation' do not cater and will not be suitable for digital data asset management. Whilst the concept and term of digital perpetuation is only just evolving one could same the same for a lot of new terms. Why is it that you have such a problem with this word and its objective for differentiation and clarification.

Even if you delete this the term will not go away. It is already out there in publication on professional website libraries and will be available in the Queensland archives shortly. Therefore whilst it is not prominent now like all new evolutions so is there the introduction to new terms of reference it takes time and one would had thought that the wikipedia was a progressive environment and keen to be seen to staying in touch technology and the changing global environment.

Thank you for your time. Linda Shave — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.173.192.215 (talk) 07:38, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding deletion of Al Wathba

Hello, How are you ? First of all thanku for reviewing my 1st wiki post.

You nominated my post to be deleted as there is some "lawsuit" filed against it. I reviewed the article and i couldn't able to find anything against al wathba. I have copied Conclusion of the post for the reference "This case is an example of the difficulties that can arise in the absence of clear drafting. while courts are always keen to give effect to the intentions of the parties to a freely negotiated contract, this is only possible where those intentions are made plain. Those clauses that are commonly considered ‘boilerplate’ (such as the ‘law and jurisdiction’ clause), are of essential importance when disputes arise and inserting plain, unambiguous wording must not be overlooked at the drafting stage."[1]

The Egyptian ship owner want to seek the justice outside the UAE law & order and It is clearly stated in all insurance documents that all the law and order are subjected to UAE court only.

And this article is helping the user that everybody should read and agree all the terms and conditions before going for any insurance.

This type of small court case for such a big insurance company is not a big issues.

Please review the article and advise me corrections so that newbies like me will also become contributor to wiki.

Hello, I am one of Mr. Lantz's professors from Ghidotti Early College High School and I was wondering what your best advice would be on where to look for more notable sources. Mr. Lantz is graduating high school this year and I thought it was so rare for someone of his age, being only 17, to receive not just one college degree but two before finishing high school. Not to mention the fact he has 75 college credits completed already. I understand notability is of huge importance to Wikipedia, so if this continues to be a concern for him having his own article, would there be any chance he could merge into another page, like that of Dual enrollment. After all the volunteer work and service he has done for the school, we all wanted to give something back to him before he heads off to college, and he had always dreamed of having a Wikipedia article of his own. Thank you so much for your time and feedback. It is greatly appreciated.

Well, aside from starring in one documentary and receiving two diplomas before high school (I'm not sure if anyone has else accomplished this) there's not much notability and the article could seem promotional because of that. News coverage is always good and if it's in-depth that's even better. He could be mentioned at another article if it's outstanding such as if he is the only one to ever receive diplomas before high school. If there was an article for the documentary, he could be mentioned there but I'm not sure how significant his role in that was. If not, I'm afraid there's nothing to suggest mentioning him. Considering his young age, this also affects the low amount of good sources. Cheers! SwisterTwister talk 23:07, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am not certain why the amount of sources or their notability is an issue in the article I wrote. According to Wikipedia's guidelines on notability "Sources used to support a claim of notability include independent, reliable publications in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, television documentaries, websites, and published reports by consumer watchdog organizations[3] except for the following"

Two of my sources are from highly regarded newspapers and the third is a CNN interview which is a national coverage. If you could please explain what makes these 3 sources not notable enough I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Hello SwisterTwister,

I have submitted, and was denied, a page for Freedom Network USA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Freedom_Network_USA. This message is in response to your comment on the submission: The article contains too many primary links and thus needs more third-party sources like good news coverage.

I do want to thank you for your time in reviewing my submission. As I am completely new to this process, I would love to get your feedback as far as how I can improve the submission to wikipedia standards. This organization is doing great, reputable work in the field of human trafficking, and it would be great to have wikipedia representation.

I felt I followed the guideline regarding 'notability' by providing sources that adhere to: "reliable sources independent of the organization have discussed it." These sites include:

[[ http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/President-Obama-Announces-Another-Key-State-Department-Post/%7Cwhitehouse.gov]], which is the official governmental website of The White House and President Barack Obama of the United States

The United States Department of Justice website at, source content mentioned at: http://www.justice.gov/usao/nye/pr/2013/2013sep20.html

The submission contains 23 third-party resources, while supplementing with 10 resources directly from Freedom Network regarding Leadership and internal processes. How many third-party references are typically required to consider the evidence as sufficient? It is an option to remove all internal resources and only provide third-party if necessary. Is there a golden ratio to strive for?

Organizations used as reference including CAST LA and CIW have been existence for many years and have received great notability in the United States and globally. Both CAST LA and CIW are member organizations of Freedom Network USA.

CAST LA was honored by The United Nations, as evidenced [[ http://www.castla.org/cast-at-the-united-nations%7Chere]] and in the submission. CIW was recognized with the 2014 Clinton Global Citizen Award, and the 2015 Presidential Medal.

I am providing this additional information because I want to inquire about how to provide more reputable resources to represent the success and notability of the Freedom Network USA. If you have suggestions, I would greatly appreciate any help and assistance!

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Luz

Dan Morrell entry

Dear SwisterTwister.

I am having difficulty understanding why you rejected my submitted biographical entry for Dan Morrell. There are numerous links to other websites and references to highly reputable third-party sources. Dan Morrell is clearly a notable figure, being a leading and active pioneer in several notable areas of current interest and the person who coined the term 'carbon neutral', one of the most significant terms of the age. He is also the subject of a forthcoming biography by the well-known writer/journalist Rosie Boycott. This very night CHANT Live, the band he started with the famous record producer Martin Glover are playing in front of an expected 30,000 crowd at Stonehenge. So I would be very grateful if you could point out the problems to help me get it right. I offered to get this organised for Dan, so I find myself in a tricky situation.

Thank you and best wishes,

Explanation requested to your revert

Hi I see youve reverted sourced references to the article on Seeman can you please explain why?

Because I'm not sure why it needs so many references for that particular area and per the lengthy talk at the talk page. SwisterTwister talk 20:25, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response, I collected many references precisely because I expected trouble: even with so many references given why is there still any ambiguity wrt the person's name? Why are edits reverting the persons first name being allowed and why arent THOSE edits being considered vandalism? Given youve also read through the talk page, do you buy the arguments supporting the case for removing the persons first name? Do you believe so many sources made the same "printing mistake" and expect a passport/birth certificate to substantiate the first name? Thanks once again for responding.

I'd take whatever looks most sensible. SwisterTwister talk 21:47, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Good. I am interested in having a honest discussion with a neutral entity here and I am glad if I can take this up with you. Can you please list what was your deciding factor in concluding that the person's first name is ambiguous? If the different sources dont seem to convince you, what did you find about the argument against the given name in the talk page that convinced you? You obviously cant find the printing mistake theory sensible.
If your argument is to go by most common usage, I agree partially, the first name need not be mentioned everywhere, but has to be mentioned in wiki as adding it makes the article more comprehensive. The sources listing the first name has to be done justice for. Can I list this under "Birth/Other names"?
About your last paragraph, yes. SwisterTwister talk 23:04, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am thankful for your reasonable response. I will add this name in the Born section of the article. But, I believe this will not be over, there will be comebacks but I am sure you will be as vigilant with them as you were with me.

A tag has been placed on your user page, User talk:Nizam Matches Private Limited, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy deletion candidate). Doing so will take you to your user talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also edit this page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would help make it encyclopedic. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dawn Bard (talk) 14:15, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rushing to AFD

I urge you , in all sincerity, to slow down and spend a little more time on WP:BEFORE. With something like Abdulla al-Hadj, rushing to AFD after searching for a transliterated name under the particular spelling that happened to appear on the page was, well... Just please slow down and try a few variant searches when dealing with long-standing, or even with new articles that have at least one source and are prima facie plausible. But especially wnen dealing with names that are transliterated from another alphabet. If I sound exasperated, it is because I can see that you do constant, thankless, yoeman's labor bringing a lot of bad, mostly new articles to AFD. But I also spend a lot of time checking assertions you make about lack of sources that turn out to have merely been careless searches. Maybe try just tagging for notability sometimes, especially when working in unfamiliar territory. E.M.Gregory (talk) 19:04, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I hear you but I often like other users will nominate it because it's still a concern and others may have better access to sourcing past my abilities (foreign language, offline, etc.). I often consider opening an RfC but think AfD may be a better option sometimes if it seems too troubling. It's worth noting I'll try and improve the article as much as I can like you and also tag it as needed. Cheers! SwisterTwister talk 19:19, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. :) In reviewing listings at WP:SCV, I see that you removed a CSB notice from Green Party of Malaysia with a note that "Nothing blatant here."

I'm afraid you may have overlooked the issue, as content I just removed from the article was copied verbatim from the source. For a particularly egregious example:

Article text Source text
Fifty-odd years after independence from British colonial rule, Malaysian politics has now reached the stage whereby race-based political parties no longer have any relevance or valid currency. In the past fifty plus years, race-based politics has proven to be divisive and unhealthy for our nation. This is because the issue of race has become increasingly irrelevant in the emerging political landscape of Malaysia. Politicians who play the racial card will soon find themselves with no followers, or cronies, either, for that matter. Fifty-odd years after independence from British colonial rule, Malaysian politics has now reached the stage whereby race-based political parties no longer have any relevance or valid currency. This is because the issue of race has become increasingly irrelevant in the emerging political landscape of Malaysia. Politicians who play the racial card will soon find themselves with no followers, or cronies, either, for that matter.

While I can't be sure how this was overlooked, I wonder if you are relying on the bots that compare text? In this case, the bots could not function properly on the page and so could not help in identifying the issue. In such situations, we have to do a visual comparison. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:12, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In this case, I simply looked at the report. Often, I'll also watch the article for any improvement or changes. SwisterTwister talk 17:04, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Related to this, I don't really understand this removal. Fortunately, this copyright problem was reparable (and I have now repaired it), whereas the other simply required removal of copied content. Can you explain what you meant? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:09, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I first looked at the Duplicator Report (which has been extremely slow loading) and looking at the lycaeum website, it seems to have a Wiki format but I'm not sure if it is a Wiki website (searches find zero results). SwisterTwister talk 17:11, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That the site looks like a wiki doesn't help avoid it being a blatant copyright issue, I'm afraid; there are many wikis which are not compatibly licensed with ours. It's a good idea to look at the talk page when evaluating these things; in this case, it contains the clue to resolving the copyright issue. The contributor quite rightly noted that the website she was flagged as copying actually copied from another Wikipedia article - but that means so did she, and Wikipedia's content is not public domain. In this case, the problem is fixed according to the instructions at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. If you're not able to find the issue, you might want to ask for assistance or just leave the CSB notice alone so somebody else can look. The notice offers some protection to copyright holders and our reusers in the event that infringement does occur, as it at least alerts them to the problem. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:12, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki love mislabeled?

After posting recently to Liz's talk page, I scanned up and was startled to see that I had sent her a wiki love message. At the moment it says "Sphilbrick has given you a fresh pie!" After a tiny bit of investigation, it appears that the editor name is replaced with whomever last edited the page. I haven't looked closely enough to see why this is so, but wanted to bring it to your attention. Do you see the same thing I see? I wondered if somehow it displays whoever is currently viewing the page although I don't know how to do that.--S Philbrick(Talk) 18:45, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sphilbrick Yes I noticed that and attempted fix it multiple times and hopefully it works with this last one. If not, it may be something with the script. SwisterTwister talk 20:34, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Spam accounts

I blocked the Rezidence.lk account and deleted their spam. We'll see if they come back or not. I also blocked the VoIP4CallCenters account. These random article spammers make me laugh at what they hit. Like the other day when a cow supplier hit a space article. Pigs Cows in Space!!! -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 19:16, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gogo Dodo Whether a bot or not, they may not be familiar with how the website works and may be getting there through random articles (random article button included). SwisterTwister talk 20:34, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I meant. I think they are hitting the random article button. The Rezidence.lk account was likely not a bot due to the way it made a new section. VoIP4CallCenters may be, but probably not. The cow one was definitely not a bot. Either way, it was some poor SEO work. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:02, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SwisterTwister, my recent attmept at creating the page "KBACE Technologies, Inc." was declined due to lack of notariety, and it has been suggested to find more, reliable sources. Is the current problem that there is too few sources, or that they aren't relaible enough?

Technical note

Just a quick request — when you're adding a debate to the AFD log, could you put it on a new line? If two debates are transcluded on the same line, the second one gets messed up; see the Farleon entry near the top of this revision. Lest I be unclear, I'm not complaining at you; I just figured it was something you'd not known. I'd never noticed this until a few minutes ago. Nyttend (talk) 22:33, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look on the web about this person. They seem to have a fair bit of coverage, but I haven't looked closely. However, the real problem is that the article may be a paraphrase of this news piece I found. I'll try to clean it up later today. —George8211 / T 11:10, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DYKs

Hi.

DYK is to showcase new content. For Lester Dragstedt I cannot see how it would qualify for DYK, it is not new, it is not expanded 5 times in the last week, and it is not a Good article. Similarly Woolrich has not improved much in the last week. Similarly for Broadnose sevengill shark your improvements were in June, so it is a bit late to nominate in August (and I suspect not a 5× size boost). And for Sharpnose sevengill shark nothing has changed since February. So unfortunately they would all fail a DYK nomination. Sorry to let you hear the bad news. For many years I avoided DYK because I thought it was too complicated, and then I found it hard to get something ready in 5 days after I started it. My name is on the list as someone who can move stuff to the queue. But I also do some reviews and nominations. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 06:37, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Graeme Bartlett Hmm, very well, I thought those snippets that I listed were interesting enough for a DYK (especially judging from what I see pass as DYK sometimes). It's worth mentioning I would've nominated them myself sooner if it wasn't I find the DYK listing process too challenging. FYI, I never mentioned sharpnose sevengill shark for DYK (only broadnose). SwisterTwister talk 06:42, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The hooks are fine, it is just the articles are not new enough. To qualify you could upgrade them to good article status! Or the next article you start could perhaps qualify. I can still help you nominate one if you want assistance. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:21, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help Me

I've been trying to get the deletion sorting tool (APerson's script) to work but it's not. I'd sincerely like some help with this. SwisterTwister talk 07:36, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've managed to get this working by going to Special:MyPage/Skin.js then vector.js (if that's the theme you're using), and adding {{subst:iusc|User:APerson/delsort.js}}. You'll then need to force a refresh. Could you let me know if that works? Samuel Tarling (talk) 08:35, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Articles

Re your message: Per the outcome of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Julia Winter, the article should be a redirect. No additional claim towards notability has been added in the recent edits. There were no additional roles added or reliable citations establishing her notability beyond Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Jordan Fry at least has additional roles since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and there has been no AfD regarding the article, so it could be argued either way (redirect or full article). You might consider listing the article for AfD to settle the matter.

Also you likely have a logged out sockpuppet of FrozenFan2. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:51, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Gogo Dodo: I was aware of the AfD but I still wondered whether it should be protected. SwisterTwister talk 04:56, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, that seems reasonable. I semi-protected it for a year. If a year passes and she has new roles, then it can be reconsidered. Though if she hasn't had a new role in 10 years, it doesn't seem likely anything will change in a year. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:06, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bājūrī Ibrāhīm, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page BRILL (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Removing CSB tags

Hello, SwisterTwister. In reviewing the SCV listing for August 6th, I see that you removed the CSB tag from this article with a note saying "Fixing slight copy."

There are several issues with this action.

First, if the external site were copyright owner of that content, your fixes would not address the copyright problem.

External site text Wikipedia article text Your changes to text
The flag of Bulgaria (Bulgarian: знаме на България, [znɑmɛ nɑ bɤ̞ɫˈɡɑrijɐ]) is a tricolor consisting of three equal-sized horizontal bands of (from top to bottom) white, green, and red. The flag was first adopted after the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878), where Bulgaria gained independence. The national flag at times was charged with the state emblem, especially during the People's Republic of Bulgaria. The current flag was re-established with the 1991 Constitution of Bulgaria and was confirmed in a 1998 law. Your edits are too minimal to eradicate the taking of creative content from that source and would at best constitute a derivative work. To eradicate copying concerns, content must be completely rewritten, not modified. Changes like moving words from "The national flag at times was charged " to read "At times, the national flag was charged" will not address the issue. (Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing explains why not in a little more detail.)

However, in this case the external site does not own the copyright. They are in fact copying from the article Flag of Bulgaria. Thus, the copyright infringement is internal from the authors of that article and all the other articles copied into that page. It can be fixed by adding attribution, as discussed earlier, but that attribution is mandatory.

I'm repairing the copyright problems with that article. If you're going to rewrite content that is copied, please be sure to do so from scratch as policy requires. If possible, please be conscious in your new page reviewing of the possibility of copying from mirrors and fix such copyvios caused by copying content without legally required attribution by providing that attribution. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:55, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moonriddengirl Yes, I remember that one well but there wasn't much to change without affecting the article's sensibility so I did the best I could (fixing the most outstanding to me). SwisterTwister talk 19:00, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If copyrighted content can't be removed without affecting the article's sensibility, we delete the article. Or the section. Or whatever it takes to get rid of the copyright violation. You can even blank the article or the section with {{copyvio}} and leave it for somebody else to handle. It is one of our core policies and one of our chief legal policies that content on Wikipedia must be legal. If it's not, it has to go. Please don't remove the CSB notice if you can't figure out how to fix the problem. Let somebody else handle it who does. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:20, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

multiple nominations

When you do want to nominate multiple pages at one time, there's aspecial procedure, given at WP:AFD. I consider it unduly complicated, and it can't be done with Huggle. I've used it a very few times, but what I usually do is nominate the articles separately, but next to each other., by preparing them first, and then clicking submit for both within a few seconds. DGG ( talk ) 16:53, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DGG I've considered it and often will but I find these articles randomly (especially searching for long-lived fabricated ones) so I never know what I'll find. Speaking of fabricated, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jack Robichaux is nearing snow delete and the subject appeared quite fabricated. Cheers! SwisterTwister talk 18:45, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Problem is, doing it by just adding the name in the Afd rationale does not set up the page notices & templates. DGG ( talk ) 04:11, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

AfD Aftermath American Band

I was surprised to see this page nominated for deletion a few days ago. Even more surprised that you wanted to delete it for now despite what you wrote about your own research. The band has a 30 year history that includes countless magazine articles by the largest metal magazines in the world. Multiple labels have released their material in fact Shadow Kingdom Records reissued their Eyes of Tomorrow record yesterday. Blabbdermouth.net featured their comeback last month. That site has 3 million unique visitors a month. The band was also feature in Gary Sharpe Young's book A-Z of Thrash Metal. Included on the Metal Forces' Compilation Scream Your Brains Out. And they sued Dr. Dre for trademark infringement. In terms of citations, the lawsuit is cited, the record labels are listed, the book is cited. How and what needs to be done to improve the citations? Why does everyone keep erasing Drover's Secret Life?

Hi, I created the page Drover's Secret Life. Since it's inception, everyone has been bent on erasing it, even though it is notable. Why is it that there an individual article for every single Twilight character, when those books have such terrible reviews, but something that has won multiple awards keeps being reverted? I'm just wondering what the reasoning behind this is. White Arabian mare (talk) 01:06, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I hear you (I'm very much not a fan of Twilight) but it's a matter of there's enough for an (notable) article. SwisterTwister talk 01:41, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I hate Twilight too. It's just that Hank the Cowdog has won several awards, and there's actually a request on the talk page (from 2008) for each book to have its own article. I had written a complete summary, character list, and added references, and then another user erased it all. Sigh.😔 White Arabian mare (talk) 16:24, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, This is Arrt75012, about the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Philippe_Adrien_(English) I spoke with Onel5969 and did everything he asked me to concerning notability and POV ; there are 30 external links towards completely independent sources. What can I do to improve the notability of this article ? Thank you

16:45:05, 21 September 2015 review of submission by C S Chaffee

Regarding your review and rejection of Draft: Chet Bowers, Your comment was that the subject "seems" notable but that the article needs more third party references and you name newspapers and media in particular. The references I have included are published, third party (under Wikipedias own definition of third party) comments that refer to the subject or his work. These references come from people who have their own established careers as best selling authors, researchers, educators, lawyers, etc. Just guessing, but I'd say that more people have been notable in their fields and have had a notable impact within their genre, than have been interviewed by CNN or Newsweek. I will add more references but I was attempting to keep the article as succinct and simple as possible.C S Chaffee (talk) 16:45, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dropping in, C S Chaffee, an extensive ideas section like you used is usually inappropriate here. Justifying an inclusion by saying that someone said "This book would never have come without the years of mentorship offered to all of us by Chet Bowers." is not appropriate either, because in a forward, authors normally cite everyone they can think of, as it's taken as an insult to be omitted. Such forwards in book are basically mutual back-scratching. An extensive quote from a review is not used either, if the reviewer is not an authority--most academic book reviews are done by junior people. You cannot say "Bowers' experience with both Western and aboriginal cultures, in addition to his contact with scholars representing a broad range of disciplines, " unless there's a reliable 3rd party source. The external links are excessive. Please read WP:EL--one link to his principal website is sufficient, not a link to amazon, and not al ink to misc places where a notice of one of his lectures is posted. multiple nominations

I don't think handling 5 different bios in one afd is a practical idea, and I closed as non-consensus to allow an immediate renomination. For one thing, it makes it hard to discuss. For another, it makes it hard to close: you seem to have missed one or more of the intricate steps in the manual procedure; one article never got a notice at all, and after the close most of the others didn't update right, and I had to go around updating the talk pages and the articles pages one at a time. When I try it, I usually make some mistake also, so I've stopped trying to use it even when the topics are very closely related. If you do want to use it, stick to two, and verify that both pages get the right notices and that they clear properly after the afd. DGG ( talk ) 16:39, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DGG I hear you but I was hoping to save the trouble of separate nominations and clicks and there were not per se connected but were about the size and in terms of sourcing (questionably notable). FWIW, I made Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ESR Technology with four instead. I'll start the renominations shortly because I feel those all need to be deleted. Acting on your advice I am trying my best to add more sources and info to it. Thanks... Ejaz92 (talk) 10:29, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Detail in Afd discussions

I notice that we often comment on the same articles in deletion discussions. Is the level of detail that I put in my comments off-putting or do you think that it helps the discussion? examples: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Battra, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Moonshot (magazine), and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Overflowing Futures. (I admit that I did get a little snide at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vested business brokers.) --Bejnar (talk) 21:19, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

13:38:33, 29 September 2015 review of submission by Molamrabe

Hi everybody,

The article on "Asiem El Difraoui" was published simultaneously in German and French, both of which have been carefully reviewed and accepted. The submitted version in English contains references to major books and award-winning films created and produced by Mr. El Difraoui. Could you therefor please explain why you consider that the submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability? I can only imagine that there's been a mistake.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Careful with WP:CANVAS

As you stated you have did so at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zuma: Tales of a Sexual Gladiator, it might be seen as inappropriate to "ping" users who in the past have opined for deleting many other adult film related articles. In notifying others it IS appropriate under WP:AFD#After nominating: Notify interested projects and editors to review an article's edit history and send a neutral note to any who had made sunbstantial contributions to that article. Cheers Schmidt, Michael Q. 22:27, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

MichaelQSchmidt As long as they are interested with that topic and can give feedback about it (whether delete or not), there is consensus. Unlike others, I like to notify anyone who can give a useful comment including past contributors or interested users (who only seem to opine for deletion because they are familiar with that topic). Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 23:14, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Were actual article contributors notified?? Or interested projects?? Or were editors "pinged" who advocated "keeps"??? Their personal "Interest" aside, if an editor does little to improve such topics and is widely known for !voting at AFDs for the removal of such content, bringing their attention to an AFD they would likely find all by themselves could be seen as a possible attempt at Votestacking even were that not the intention. As perception is everything here, I only urge caution. Best, Schmidt, Michael Q. 23:24, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sakharov Center page

Hi! You recently wrote to me about my draft for the Sakharov Center https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Ariella_Katz#Your_submission_at_Articles_for_creation:_Sakharov_Center_.28September_19.29

that, "This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia." Could you tell me about specific sections that are not notable enough and specific sections that need more/different citation than is in the current version? In other words, which specific sections are the problem? Do you have any suggestions specific to my article for making it better?

I really appreciate your help in advance! Ariella Katz (talk) 01:44, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help - Self-Promotion and COI Attack by Competitor

Hello, LauraMaurer recommended that I reach out to you for help. Below is a modified message I had sent to FreeRangeFrog and Wikipedia complaint and have heard NOTHING. I also put this message on the talk pages for Peter Rhse and BU Rob13 as well.

Help is needed. This is Model Mugging regarding evidence of self-promotion and COI regarding attack on us by competitor.

There has been no reply to the talk on Model Mugging. This editing game Wikipedia has does not seem to have any standard rules, especially for libel-slanderous behavior. The last edits to the Model Mugging editing war are wrong.

In a prior edit, Peter Rehse wrote “Wikipedia is not here to advertise any entity but to provide information” – I ask whether rumors is providing information because it falls into Wiki’s tabloid journalism definition. The author of that article says she is writing about rumors.

Why are Wikipedia editors insisting on a source that the author admits to being rumors and from another lying Wikipedia editor?

I am hopeful, because upon reviewing the history of the Model Mugging page, Wikipedia editors saw what Impact was doing in 2005 as self-promotion and personal advertisement. Model Mugging was unaware what Impact was doing at that time.

It is my hope you are simply unaware of what Impact is up to again in 2015.

Do you see a problem with Impact self-advertisement? I put a picture summary report together with a small amount of historical background – please click to view summary report: http://modelmugging.org/history/impact-self-defense-wikipedia-attack.pdf

I have identified tag teaming efforts of Nefariousski in latest Impact Self-Defense attack against us. She is loaded with hypocritical contradictions such as COI, biographies of living persons (BLP), lack of editing balance, failure of editing in a NPOV, disregard to consensus for disputes, using an unreliable source to make libel-slanderous statements. And she is involved in a campaign to promote a competitor, Impact Self-Defense.

The Impact group has repeated misquoted a training incident that occurred 30 years ago that made it into a tabloid magazine written by Peri in Mother Jones. The American Press Association Principles of Journalism identifies "journalism‘s first obligation is to the truth, and also discipline of verification. . ." as listed on the APA website. The Peri article violates the APA’s principles. The source also falls into Wikipedia tabloid journalism definition and sensationalism.

Nefariousski and other writers insist on using the term ‘sexual assault’, which is not used in the article. Even after Nefariousski was corrected by FreeRangeFrog about her inappropriateness of using the term “sexual assault”, she insisted on using it. Additional editors have also changed the current line to be even more inaccurate. However, ‘rumor’ is used numerous times. Peri writes, “The staff of Women Defending Ourselves had finally begun to feel empowered, but it was a passive sort of empowerment, based on whispers and rumor campaigns instead of direct confrontation.” A 25 plus year old rumor campaign is exactly what Nefariousski, as Impact, is doing!

How is this single source claiming rumors thereby reliable? Mother Jones was not a major publication in 1990, especially when publishing admitted rumors and is loaded with misinformation?

Nefariousski-Impact tag team planned to link the Wikipedia ESD page to a derogatory Model Mugging Wikipedia page highlighting a tabloid source written with accusation heading, “controversy”. Impact also wrote a promotional page and pasted it into her Sandbox. They are also getting around Wikipedia rules against self-promotion using Wikipedia search engine ranking by keeping their page in the sandbox status - FIRST PAGE on search results for "Empowerment Self-Defense".

PLEASE CLICK the pdf link as evidence to view images in summary report of her COI campaign promoting Impact Self-Defense - again: http://modelmugging.org/history/impact-self-defense-wikipedia-attack.pdf

Is this "nefarious" behavior? Should she be blocked and all her edits scrutinized? Does Wikipedia see a problem with hypocritical editor(s)?

I had written a response in Model Mugging Talk PRIOR to discovering the ESD page.

We need the Model Mugging site corrected and will also need protection against other Impact organizational associates tag teaming inaccurate edits.

Thank you for your assistance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiipedia-posting (talkcontribs) 03:55, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SwisterTwister -

Appreciate your comments, review and encouragement. Have been searching for as many sources as possible on the Perry Rosenthal profile. Can you be more specific as to which citations need additional support? I had thought I had supported them all, but am willing to seek out more (if it's out there!), so any further guidance appreciated.

Hi,

Could you provide more clarity on why the Mercury Capital Advisors page was not approved. It seems like it is notable. The firm was number one in private placements in the first half of 2015, and has been in the top five for private placements in the last 5 years. Other less notable private placement agencies have pages. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.l

Hi SwisterTwister I have questions about draft:lynne Reeves Griffin. You stated that the sources were not reliable and I'm just confused as they are almost all articles in major newspapers. Hello SwisterTwister! (If I'm not in the right place, please let me know and I'll never show up here again! Should I go to the Tea House instead? This is my first Wiki experience.)

Thank you for reviewing my recent contribution (referenced above). I'm not clear on two points: -- You note that it reads more like a report or essay than an encyclopedic article; what do you mean specifically? ==> Is there somewhere I can look up this distinction? ==> What types of changes would I need to make to render the article acceptable? -- You also encourage me to use secondary, reliable info, using no original research. ==> Nothing that appears in the article is my material, and I include references to approximately 78 distinct, verifiable sources (links are provided), so I'm not sure what to make of that note?

I thank you for any help or guidance that you are able to provide! Furbierules Furbierules (talk) 17:43, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again SwsterTwister - Furbie rules again. ;-) Can you tell me if Part I (What is Memory Reconsolidation?) meets the encyclopedic standards? Is it Parts II and III that pose a problem because they contain statements of implication/application? Just trying to see where the problems lie specifically! Thanks again. Furbierules (talk) 17:53, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Furbie The article looks good but it's parts like "What is....?" and "how it works" that are usually not used. There's also currently an article for memory consolidation and the start of this article doesn't seem to differ from that. 11:39, 5 October Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Byakuren Kaikan

Hello and thank you for your welcome. I'm a new user and not that used to the world of Wikipedia. My first effort to contribute to the encyclopedia is the article on the Byakuren Kaikan, which now risks to be deleted for reasons I can't say I really agree with. Anyway, I added as much references and sources I can, although most of them are in Japanese. As for today I added more articles I could find on some magazines, please check the discussion page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Byakuren_Kaikan

Also, I would like to know if there is anything else I could do to prevent this page from being deleted as it costed me time and effort to create it and I'd like it to be a reference for anyone looking for information on this style on the web in English.

Thanks a lot for your attention.

Bruce Judson page

Thank you for patrolling the page on Bruce Judson. I know that autobiography articles are strongly discouraged. However, this may be a case where I meet the notability guidelines. If you agree, can you remove the warnings on the page, and/or review it for a neutral tone?

Notability:

--I have written four books released by major US publishers such as Scribner and HarperCollins, and as indicated in verifiable press articles cited in the Wikipedia article I am a bestselling author.

--In it's first ever list, Advertising Age named me as one of the nation's leading Cybermarketers (verified in Wikipedia article) (i.e. the magazine recognized my influence on the Internet advertising business).

--I was the co-founder of the Yale Journal on Regulation, which has a Wikipedia page.(verified in Wikipedia article)

--I was the co-founder of Pathfinder which has a Wikipedia page.(verified in Wikipedia article)

--The biographer Walter Isaacson credits me with inventing the concept of the banner ad, in two verifiable interviews.(verified in Wikipedia article)

--As indicated in the Wikipedia article, I was the subject of featured (verifiable) profiles or interview articles, in print and online, in the Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur Magazine (twice), and Advertising Age.(verified in Wikipedia article)

--A bestselling book, "Burn Rate", includes several pages about me in discussing the origins of the Internet advertising business (verified in Wikipedia article with Business Week review of the book, also Google "Bruce Judson, Burn Rate, Michale Wolff and the pages in the book come up).

--There are many more press interviews and quotes from me (including the New York Times front page) which are not in the Wikipedia article but can be verified. (is more necessary?)

Thanks for your help

2 quick questions (hopefully)

Hi. First, always a pleasure working with you on AfD and AfC. Thanks for all the efforts you put in on both projects. My first question is that I notice you sometimes close AfD's that end up as delete. I've only closed a few, and they've always been keep. If it's a delete determination, I know how to close the discussion, but can I, since I can't delete the article? Second, in one of your comments at AfD I noticed you said you were going back over articles which have been tagged for notability for a while. Is there some type of search that I could use to help with that? I patrol new pages, but don't like deleting them and discouraging new editors (unless it's so obvious). Thanks. Onel5969 TT me 20:52, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Onel5969 Ah yes, I use Special:RandomInCategory particularly searching Orphaned articles, Articles with a promotional tone and Articles lacking sources. You can also range by date for example: Orphaned articles from February 2009. I've heavily been searching and searching through and at first searched more for fabricated articles (see Wikipedia:List of hoaxes on Wikipedia) but now include articles that are questionably to inclusion thus taken to AfD. I have literally filled my notes with articles I have found while binge searching so it would be nice to have some help. As you may notice at some I've nominated, I have found some articles that simply needed to be taken care when started or tagged (see Vantrix) and because of its orphan nature, no one simply ever found it again. Not to mention, because of these orphans, some articles for companies and bands are basically now useless because they may have closed by now and otherwise non-existent so that's especially targeted for AfD. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 20:58, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Brilliant. Thanks. Onel5969 TT me

Liam Payne Draft

Hi. I see that you denied the Liam Payne draft claiming that it does not meet not the notability standards of Wikipedia and I'm just curious as to how that is. I have gone through the standards multiple times and he absolutely meets them. It is mind boggling to me that a member of the biggest band in the world for the last five years, who has completed projects on his own with world famous artists and producers, who is the only member of the band to work as an individual on a world famous media publication, who has more followers on social media than some countries have people, who has the notoriety for a joke tweet to impact a multibillion dollar corporation and I could continue with countless other reasons which were in my draft, which I'm assuming you have not actually properly read, is less notable than half the people that are given individual wikipedia pages. So I ask that you please explain to me how specifically does he not meet the standards because I'm having a really hard time understanding?

Additionally, I know you stated " Comment: Although he seems to have gotten some attention since starting a solo path, he may still be best known for the group and thus there may not be much for a separate article yet. SwisterTwister talk 06:20, 11 October 2015 (UTC)," but then by these standards how is it that any of the other members have solo pages as they too have more notoriety as members of the band, than as individuals.

Sources for Rejected Article

Hello,

You recently rejected a draft for a page on a man named Domenico Tranaso: https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Draft:Domenico_Tranaso&redirect=no

Your reason was that more sources are needed. I found one more source on him, but it does not appear to be related to the event that he is most known for. I'm going to add it anyway. Additionally, there's another potential source (I'm 99% sure that it pertains to him and his attempted takeover of Altamura), however it has to be purchased online in order to be read: http://www.torrossa.it/resources/an/2941719. Would these two sources potentially be enough to warrant a Wikipedia page on him?
