Athiya Shetty (born November 5, 1992) is an Indian actress who appears in Hindi films of Bollywood. She debuted in the romantic action film Hero (2015). She was born to actor Sunil Shetty and Mana Shetty. Since a young age, she wanted to follow her father's step in acting after accompanied him to various shooting locations. During her visit to the set of Umrao Jaan, she grew an inspiration from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to become an actress on seeing her adorning herself into the character of Umrao Jaan.
Shetty was born and brought up in Mumbai and she attended American School of Bombay. In her institute, she was schoolmate with Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor and all the three of them participated in dance and acting shows.[2] Later, she enrolled at New York Film Academy to study acting in order to fulfil her endeavours as an actress. In 2015, she marked her acting debut in Hero alongside Sooraj Pancholi, produced by Salman Khan Films, the film performed badly and collected around ₹33.37 crore (US$3.9 million) nett.[3] Bollywood Hungama granted her a fair review, by writing ″Athiya Shetty is too decent in her part but will need more time to find her comfort zone.″ [4]
